The History Of Comic Technique In Zaju

This paper based on the study of Yuan-dynasty zaju printed in Yuan Dynasty; Yuan-dynasty zaju printed in Ming Dynasty; Ming-dynasty zaju; Qing-dynasty zaju and many kinds of record about Chinese play.This paper used text-analytical method; classification; comparative method, probed into the progress of comic technique in zaju.Form Zhou Dynasty to Han Dynasty, the comic technique was in the condition of occurring. Some comic techniques were used in humorous play; opera and humorous talk, such as "humoristic appearance"; "method of insinuate"; "reverse expectation".Form Wei Dynasty to Wudai Dynasty, the comic technique was in the condition of slow developing. More comic techniques than before were used in humorous play; opera, such as "buffoonery of blow"; "use famous remark in funny way"; etc.Song Dynasty and Jin Dynasty was the fast developing period of comic technique in zaju. Many kinds of comic technique were appeared in zaju and yuanben of this period, such as "act three times"; "make strange"; "buffoonery of dull"; "use famous remark in funny way in long coverage"; etc.Yuan Dynasty was the full blooming period of comic technique in zaju. The type of comic technique in Yuan-dynasty zaju was the most various. All kinds of comic technique can be found in Yuan-dynasty zaju. Besides, the writers of Yuan-dynasty zaju were familiar with the using of comic technique. Comic content were closely related with plots and characterization.Ming Dynasty was the perfecting period of comic technique in zaju. We can find the amending and consummating of comic content by the people of Ming Dynasty through Yuan-dynasty zaju printed in Ming dynasty. The influence of Southern Opera and long serialized dramas can be found in Yuan-dynasty zaju printed in Ming dynasty, also. The Ming-dynasty zaju reflected this progress and influence more clearly. The types of comic technique in Ming-dynasty zaju couldn't camper with Yuan-dynasty zaju. But in the using of comic technique, writers of Ming-dynasty zaju were more proficient than the writers of Yuan-dynasty zaju. Comic content was more closely related with plots and characterization.Qing Dynasty was the mature period of zaju comic technique. The types of comic technique in Qing-dynasty zaju were less than Ming-dynasty zaju, but the rising of satirical play indicate the maturity in using comic technique.
