| This dissertation is the comparative study on Chinese-Indonesian Adverbial. Based on Semantic Grammatical theory, as supported by cognitive, typological & pragmalinguistic theories, referring to the principle of combination research between form & semantic, this dissertation describes & explains the linguistic facts by making comparisons between Chinese and Indonesian Adverbial, so as to identify the similarity and differences between the adverbial of the above two languages.This paper is a pioneer comparative study on the complete systematic adverbial between Chinese and Indonesian. It aims to offer an in-depth view of the abovementioned subject matter. The rough line of this study includes:1. The Comparison between Chinese and Indonesian Adverbial Form:This study consists of four main subjects—Comparative study of:A. Parts of speech in Phrasal-Adverbial. B. Phrases and idiomatic phrases in Sentential-Adverbial. C. Adverbial codes. D. Adverbial location and multi-adverbial order.2. Comparisons between parts of speech (as practiced in each language by its own respective rules) which make Phrasal Adverbial, including Chinese Adjective with its complicated forms, Indonesian Adverb with its complicated forms, Chinese-Indonesian Verbs, Nominal, Numeral, and specific sound-imitation words. B. Comparative study on Sentential-Adverbial consisting of phrasal comparison between prepositional phrases which play the basic role of sentential-adverbial. as well as verbal phrase, numeral phrase and numeral-classified phrase which play the second role. C. The comparative study of Chinese Adverbial code "地" and the Indonesian Adverbial code " dengan ". D. The comparison between Chinese and Indonesian Adverbial location & multi-adverbial order.3. The Comparison between Chinese and Indonesian Adverbial Grammatical-Semantic: This study dissects the grammatical semantic between Chinese and Indonesian Adverbial. Firstly, it is the in-depth study on constrainal-adverbial, which consists of adverbial of place, adverbial of time, adverbial of frequency, adverbial of degree, adverbial of range, adverbial of negation, adverbial of method, adverbial of equipment, adverbial of material, adverbial of motivation & reason, adverbial of relevancy, adverbial in active-passive voice, and Indonesian adverbial of source & effect.4. Subsequently, about the Chinese-Indonesian Descriptive Adverbial which reveals the grammatical semantic of Adverbial of manner and attitude, of sound imitation as descriptive adverbial, with the roles of Chinese Adjective & its complicated form, as well as the Indonesian adverbial with its complicated forms, along with the implied grammatical semantic of quantity and metaphor.
