Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of combined treatment with moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine in the control of Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Pain, this research adopted clinical epidemiology, clinical research methodology and statistics analysis methods and to study the clinical randomized controlled results. Therefore, it provides a safe, effective and no-side-effect treatment for Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease.Method:The 60 samples that satisfied the case selection criteria were taken from the patients who treated in Huixin Chinese Medicine Outpatient Department from from March 2008 to December 2009. According to a scale of 1:1, these samples were randomly divided into Treatment Group (with moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine) and Comparison Group (only with Chinese herbal medicine), both of which have 30 samples each. A course of treatment included four weeks. Using TCM symptom rating scale quantitative and Rating scale of local signs to assess. At the same time, detecting vaginal cleanliness, pelvic inflammatory masses and fluid situation. In order to observe the evaluate efficacy and safety testing. The databases were built by EPIDATA3.1 software and the statistics were analyzed by SPSS15.0 software. Measurement data were expressed by mean±standard deviation (x±S) and count data were expressed by composition ratio (%). Measurement data groups comparison used t test (variance arrhythmia with t'test or rank sum test), and before and after of itself comparison used paired t test or Wilcoxon match rank sum test. Category data groups comparison were analyzed by X2 test, and the level information comparison among groups were analyzed by Wilicoxon rank sum test. And the statistical graphics were drawn by Graph Pad Prism 4.03 software. Result:1)A total 60 outpatients whose age were from 24 to 42 and course of disease had lasted for 1 to 6 years met the case selection criteria were observed. The 30 outpatients from Treatment Group have the average age of 32.38±5.85 and average course of disease of 4.17±2.89. The 30 outpatients from Comparison Group have the average age of 30.27±4.97 and average course of disease of 5.11±3.32. Comparability of baseline characteristics of patients in both groups age, duration, severity of comprehensive score before treatment, clinical symptoms score, the local sign score, pelvic inflammatory masses and vaginal fluid, and cleanliness conditions.Indicating that the baseline data between two groups had comparability.2) After a course of treatment, both groups showed that the comprehensive score in patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, symptom score, local sign score, McGill score and major symptom score like lower abdominal pain, lumbosacral pain, abnormal vaginal discharge, etc. had significantly lowered. The difference had statistical significance (p<0.05>). The intergroup comparison showed that the efficacy of Treatment Group were better than Comparison Group(p<0.05).3)After a course of treatment, the conditions of pelvic fluid, inflammatory masses and vaginal cleanliness were much improved in comparison of the one before treatment, whose difference had statistical significance (p<0.05>). The intergroup comparison showed that the efficacy of Treatment Group were better than Comparison Group(p<0.05).4) After a course of treatment, the total effective rate of comprehensive efficacy for Treatment Group and Comparison Group was respectively 86.7% and 60.0%. The total effective rate of clinical symptoms efficacy was respectively 90.0% and 63.3%. The total effective rate of local sign efficacy was respectively 93.3% and 70.0%. These difference had statistical significance (p<0.05, p<0.05, p<0.05).(5) a course of treatment, the two McGill Pain Questionnaire scores and SF-36 scale of life score significantly improved compared with before treatment, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.01). Between the two groups of treated group were better than the control group (P<0.01).(6) before and after the treatment, blood, urine, stool, liver and renal function, electrocardiogram was detected of no obvious abnormalities. Conclusion: 1. The combined treatment of moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of Chronic Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, especially the lower abdominal pain. Its efficacy for it is superior to the only Chinese herbal medicine treatment.2. The combined treatment of moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine can effectively improve the conditions of pelvic fluid, inflammatory masses and vaginal cleanliness. Its efficacy for it is superior to the only Chinese herbal medicine treatment. The combined treatment of moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine can enhance the comprehensive efficacy, clinical syndromes efficacy and local signs efficacy.3. The combined treatment of moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine can increase the life quality of patients with CPID of no toxin or side effect. In summary, based on the Chinese medicine in the oral plus moxibustion treatment of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease, can significantly improve abdominal pain in patients with clinical symptoms and signs, improve the clinical efficacy, it is safe, effective, non-toxic side effects, features and it is deserved to be promoted into clinical usage.
