Objective:To understand distribution of TCM syndrome in osteoporosis patientsTo evaluate the treatment effect of single epimedium on osteoporosisMethods:1 We distinguished the syndrome and signs, analysized the distribution of age to make clear the relation of syndrome type with heavy index and bone density through recording gender, age, menopause time, height and heavy, calculating body mass index as well as measuring bone density in 215 osteoporosis patients,.2 We randomly divide 50 osteoporosis patients who were insufficiency of kidney-YANG types into treatment groups and control groups and these patients received treatment for 6 months. The treatment groups were 28 and received single epimedium fluid. And control groups were 22 and treated with Fosamax(Alendronate Sodium Tablets70mg). Bone density, hormone and alkaline phosphatase level in serum, IL-6, BGP, calcium and creatinine in urine were determined pro and post 6 months of treatment. Results:From analysis bone density of 215 menopause women and divide by age and menopause time, we found that it is inverse correlation between bone density of menopause women with their age and menopause time and statistical significance (P<0.05) . Bone density was positive correlation with body mass index.Incidence rate of osteoporosis in women older than 45 wereincreasing with age growth, and obviously increased after 50 years old and reached 58.33% after 60 years old.Osteoporosis patients were 46.05% in 60-70 years old women. The change of bone density were inverse correlation with age (P<0.01). In all TCM syndrome, renal deficiency were positive correlation with age, and patients suffering from splenic asthenia were 160 which were 74.41% . renal deficiency were significantly positive correlation with menopause time.hepatic asthenia were also shown same pattern. Osteoporosis patients of blood stasis syndrome were 19.53% in all patients.2 To comparing the treatment of 50 postmenopause osteoporsis patients, we found that the total effective rate were 91.67% in treatment groups and 68.42% in control which is significantly difference(P<0.01 ).E2 index in pro and post treatment were significantly difference in treatment groups (P<0.01) and no difference were found in control group (P > 0.05) . E2 index in post treatment showed significantly difference between groups (P<0.01) .ALP and BGP showed no difference in pro and post treatment (P>0.05) . IL-6 in serum showed significantly difference in pro and post treatment (P<0.05) . bone density in treatment groups showed significantly difference pro and post treatment (P<0.01) and no difference were found between treatment and control groups (P>0.05) .Conclusions:1 Bone density in postmenopause women decreases following increasing of age and menopause time. Body mass index decreased, the incidence of osteoporosis increased. Renal and splenic asthenia are important pathogenic factors of postmenopause osteoporosis. 2 It is no significantly difference found in clinical effect and bone density change which treated by single epimedium fluid or Forsamax. We can conclusion that single epimedium fluid has same curative effect in postmenopause osteoporosis with Forsamax. Single epimedium fluid has similar estrogen and enhance bone formation effect through promote estrogen level.
