1 ObjectiveTo build an analyzing platform for quantifying and visualizing TCM formula's cold and heat properties according to the numerical results of drug's cold and heat properties measured by the experiments of the third phrase engineering of "211 project" which named "Fundamental Researches of Classic Prescriptions' Key Scientific Problems for Modern Applications".2 MethodsLiterature research,mathematical modeling,software engineering,object oriented programming.3 Results3.1 Literature and theoretical researchIn this paper,a detailed investigation of the cold and heat properties of quantitative TCM formula research divides cold and heat properties of quantitative research into two directions:objective substances-based quantitative experimental and abstract mathematical model-based quantitative modeling research.After detailed inspected on the current representative of research methods of cold and heat,the paper describes difficulties and problems of the cold and heat properties of quantitative research for the existing methods.Considering a variety of research needs to be intuitive way of showing the results of the study,and thinking of Chinese medicine as its own characteristics,this paper proposes a combination of quantitative research with the cold and heat visualization. Then the paper investigates the methods of visualization,has a roughly look at the varieties of visualization methods to enhance scientific research,support management and aid the consciousness.Furthermore,the article illustrates the necessity of the quantitative studies of cold and heat analysis by combining the visualization,and points out that TCM formula is the comprehensive embodiment of the properties of its drug composition,and it is closely related to its efficacy and safety.The visualization contributes to the direct understanding of composite drugs,as well as understanding the main effect of the formula by one glimpse at the visualization effect.Under such assumption,to achieve effective and accurate visualization of the target,the article carries out the task of the cold and heat properties analysis based on the mathematical research on the quantitative analysis method of modeling,and propose the basic concepts of the density of the cold and heat,benchmark of quantitative cold and heat,cold and heat quantitative classification model. 3.2 Platform building and applicationApply these concepts to establish a quantitative model for the actual cold and heat calculation.Through the study of various visualization methods,this paper presents the theory based on the color temperature of cold and heat ribbon Visualization;quantitative models will be mapped to the cold and heat parts of the ribbon,and design red,black and blue instruction pointers to help locate the cold and heat properties quantitative location on the ribbon.On this basis,to help illustrate the characters of the multi-dimensional and multi-level features of the TCM formula, the article establishes a tree structure,as well as cold and heat hyperlink navigation to express the characteristics of this complex,making the visual presentation can interact with the researcher.Based on these core researches of the cold and heat ribbons and multi-dimensional visual representation of the tree structure,with the ideas from software engineering,this paper designed a visualization platform for TCM formula cold and heat quantitative research.The design of the platform includes the main technical framework and the main user interfaces.With these design,the prototype realization of the platform has been achieved.Finally,use of the prototype to achieve a variety of visual effects of TCM formula from "treatise on febrile diseases",and also use these formula to demonstrate that these methods is effective and sensitive.As a result,it is verified that such kind of modeling and visualization is able to meet the requirements of visual analysis.4 ConclusionsIn this paper,research is carried based on the TCM formula from "treatise on febrile diseases",involving the quantifying and visualizing of the basic theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine.The quantitative model which proposed distinctly demonstrates the differences between adding or subtracting drugs or doses from the TCM formula clearly and precisely,and visualization can reflect these variation by the movement of three colored instruction pointers,all of which illustrate the rationality and efficiency of the quantitative model and visualization.In this project,a combination of TCM and computer science and technology is explored,and by using the frontier conceptions of visualization research,applying the technology of software engineering,the whole platform design and kernel coding are represented,and the color ribbon,red-blue-black three instruction pointers and tree structure are original creations,providing a new idea and method for the research of analyzing TCM formula.
