Improving Research On Traditional Weichang'an Pill To Modern Chinese Medicine

In order to improve the traditional weichang'an pill to modern Chinese medicine, several research were carried out by pharmacodynamics and toxicological methods, as well as quality analysis and agent technology.Six pharmacodynamics studies of gastrointestinal diseases were conducted, such as the rabbit test tension of the separation bowel movement, the anti - castor oil induced mice diarrhea, the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome in mice experiment, the movement of rabbits to test the stomach and duodenum, the movement of rat intestinal propulsion test, and antibacterial effect test. The results indicated that the new weichang'an pill without cinnabar has equivalent to or slightly better effects than those of the traditional weichang'an pill containing cinnabar. On this basis, further test of the croton cream's acute toxicity studies and weichang'an pill's acute toxicity test showed that the amount of croton cream in the weichang'an pill is in a very safe dose amount. Meanwhile, the results proved the safety of weichang'an pill and removal of cinnabar will reduce the toxicity of traditional weichang'an pill. Hence, to remove cinnabar from traditional weichang'an pill is possible and will improve its effect.The anti - endotoxin induced mice death experiment showed that weichang'an pill has significant anti - endotoxin function after removing cinnabar. The discovery provided one way to investigate the function mechanism of weichang'an pill. In addition, the discovery also make it possible to develop new drug for anti-endotoxin from weichang'an pill.In quality control experiment, a new active ingredient in weichang'an pill was determined by HPLC, which means the final product of weichang'an pill will be more comprehensive and informative. Meanwhile, we also control its organochlorine pesticide residues by GC-ECD, its lead, copper, and cadmium content by atomic absorption method, its arsenic and mercury content by AFS. Furthermore, we also developed the international level standards to control the limits of heavy metals and pesticide residues. All of these will make the weichang'an pill product safe and effective.Some research was conducted on weichang'an pill preparation. By clothing cinnabar to replace film-coating process, the product cost was reduced and the product quality was more stable and the product surface was more beautiful. Meanwhile, we also developed some new agents, such as tablets, capsules, granules, dripping pill for weichang'an pill. The work not only expands the scope of intellectual property, but also provides more and better choices for clinical utilization.In short, the research improved greatly the technical content in weichang'an pill. The traditional weichang'an pill has been developed to a new one that can almost meet the demands of modern Chinese medicine. The research also provides some reference for other traditional Chinese medicine improvement.
