Yang's patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures, a manuscript book of Qing dynasty, Prof.Huang-longxiang thinks this copy has connections with the great acupuncturist known as Doutaishi. This book is the main copy of Doutaishi's acupuncture literatures which are one of the four sources used to make national standard acupuncture point indications. It is regarded as the only existing acupoint book of Jin-Yuan dynasty to provide literature evidences for studying contemporary acupoint theories. Judged from the pattern, this book should be a clinical practice summary of some acupuncturist or school. It plays important roles to summary acupoint indications again. There is contact relationships between this book and Doutaishi, and before studies on Doutaishi focused on Zhenjingzhinan and relatives. If the relations between this book and Doutaishi are certified, it will be vital data to study Doutaishi's academic thoughts. There is rare research about this book. On all accounts, I pay more attention to this book, and then have an idea of studying this copy. This article will study six aspects on this book including the title, author, written-time, editions' source-course, basic .contents and its origins, academic importance and impacts, compare with current Dou's acupuncture books.Yang's patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures, as the title of the book is not credible, mainly because this edition copied a remnant. Also, I found another copy of this book named as Yulong song which includes two parts, the former part, Yulong song and the latter similar to this book. The first page of the latter part is lost, so, the name of the book is unknown. After research, the title of the book may be Doutaishi's Acupuncture Canon or Doutaishi's secrets. Because Yang's patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures is not similar to current Doutaishi's secrets, this book is temporarily named Doutaishi s Acupuncture Canon in this article. This book should be written posterior to 1281 and anterior to 1295. Yang's patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures and Yulong song are both incomplete and don't record the author. Supplementation and draining principles of this book is consistent with those of Doutaishi. And this book has close relations with current Dou's acupuncture works. From before-mentioned two points, the author should have contact with Doutaishi. This book imprinted spread by manuscripts. So, there is the difference among every editions. All editions are divided into three systems, including Yang's patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures system, Yulong Song acupoints notes system and Doutaishi's Secrets system. This book isn't divided into volumes. Basic contents include over two hundred acupoints' location, meridian attribution, acupuncture method and indications. Also, there is one location diagram accompanied with every acupoint, and this style initiates from this book. There is not specific rules in acupoint sequences. On the whole, the order of acupoints is five transport points, head and face points, back points, Ren meridian and thoracic and abdomen points, upper limbs points, and lower limbs points. But, because it has been copied by hand for a long time, this book has some chaos in the order. The nature, alias, location and meridian attribution maybe originate from Copper Statue Acupoints Classic and Illustration (Song dynasty). One hundred and ninety-five acupoints in two hundred and thirty-six are approximately consistent with that of Copper Statue Acupoints Classic and Illustration. Some others maybe come of Taiping Shenghui Fomula or Zhenquan Acupuncture Classic. The rest, especial extraordinary points, appear for the first time in this book.Acupuncture methods in this book have are approximately identical with Dou's acupuncture method in Zhenfang Six-cellection and Bianque Shenying Acunpuncture Yulong Classic. Both point-through-point puncture method and bleeding method are widely used in this book. It is manifested by professor Liding, that point-through-point puncture method is created by Dou Taishi.Indications in this book are described in detail and abundantly. They may originate from four aspects, first, contemporary clinical experience; second, Qianjin Formula and Taiping Shenghui Formula; third, Copper Statue Acupoints Classic and Illustration; fourth, uncertain. Illustrations and their annotations are different between Yang's Patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures and Yulong Song. Presumably, they should be added by copiers.Through comparison, Yang's patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures have more acupoints and more contents than Yulong song. So, the former is better. Because it spread in manuscript, Doutaishi's Acupuncture Canon was cited by few aftertime literatures. Bianque Shenying Acupuncture Yulong Canon was the first book to cite Doutaishi's Acupuncture Canon. There are other books citing Doutaishi's Acupuncture Canon viz. Zhenfang Six-collection and Xunjing kaoxuebian cited more, Qiongyao faming shenshu, Medicine Gangmu and Acupuncture Pivot cited less. All these books provide valuable data to study this book and restore it.Compared with clinical literatures of Jin-Yuan dynasty, indications recorded in Yang's patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures have contacts with clinical practice. The special style, some indications and extraordinary acupoints don't present in modern acupuncture teaching material. All above-mentioned will serve as references and play a supplementary role for the future. In all, this thesis reviews Yang's patrimonial Acupuncture Canon and Pictures and other relative copies, and studies its academic origins and importance and impacts. This book has important academic and literature values for future acupuncture development.
