This paper consists of two parts: the text and the appendix.In the text we find that based upon Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and modern technique experimentation, we analyzed clinical data to study the main factors involved in the pathology of diabetic microangiopathy, provided the theoretical and clinical evidence of the theory that the syndrome composed of Qi and Yin deficiency, collateral blockage and blood stasis is observed in this condition. From this perspective we discuss the theory, therapeutic principles, and the significance of the prevention and treatment of diabetic microangiopathy. In this research we analyze the diagnostic significance of hypoglossal vessels and its correlation with vessel affection. We discuss the current therapeutic principles to cure the diabetic microangiopathy (invigorate Qi, replenish Yin, activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis), and looked for new therapies to enhance the therapeutic effect. We concluded from our results that the Qi and Yin deficiency are the pathologic foundation of diabetic microangiopathy, and it is also the main factor of the collateral stasis. The deficiency of Yin, Qi, collateral blockage and blood stasis are the constituents of the syndrome underlying diabetic microangiopathy. We found that invigorating Qi, replenishing Yin, activating blood circulation, and removing blood stasis are the main therapeutic principles in diabetic microangiopathy.
