It is necessary to research the modern Chinese preparation to treat the EP.We screen out the prescription, which is classical in the minority districts, combining the Chinese traditional medicine theory, modern pharmacologic study. The prescription is composed by the spikenard and the white pepper which are both eatable and medicinal. On the basis of the clinic and market need, we research and develop the "song jiao"drop pill to treat the EP. The preparation is transformed form the pill, which is the large dosage and slow effect. The most active constituents are difficult to dissolve in water, highly volatile and instable to light and heat. We extract and refine the active components of the spikenard and the white pepper, which compose the preparation. We choose the soluble solid to disperse the drop pill, to improve the effect, and to decrease the dosage, and increase the stability of the medicinal.We choose the anticonvulsion effect as the evaluating indication to screen out the active components, which are prepared by the method of systemic solvent. The active component of the spikenard is essential oil, and the active component of the white pepper is piperine. For the first time we systemically study the active constituents and the indicative constituents in the essential oil and establish the evaluating indication and method. We study the extractive and refined technology, and magnify the technical parameters and the qualified semi-products by the pilotscale experiments. After testing the physicochemical properties and stability of the semi-products, we study the shaping technology of the "song jiao" drop pill. Then we establish the qualitative evaluating system.Through the study, the prescription of "song jiao" drop pill and the preparation are reasonable.
