In the past a few years, with development of the highly improved indirect composite resins, metal-resin bonding restoration draw more and more attention. Combination of high-strength composite resin with titanium to fabricate fixed or removable partial denture had many advantages. The first, titanium had excellent biocompatibility, high mechanical strength, low proportion; the second, the potential biological toxicity of non-noble alloys, such as Co-Cr and Ni-Cr, was avoided; the third, the disadvantage of over-abrasion of antagonization teeth resulted from high rigidity of porcelain was also avoided; the last, metal-resin prostheses was easy to be repaired in mouth. With the further improvement of performance of composite resin and the development of casting titanium technique and bonding technology, it was believed that titanium-resin bonding prostheses will have extensive application. But there was an important problem needs to solve, that's how to improve the bonding strength between titanium and resin. The Solidex hybrid composite system, a newly developed indirect composite resin, was chosen to be studied in this dissertation. The Artglass resin was chosen as control. Firstly, effect of sand blasting and how to avoid the disadvantage resulted from sand blasting was studied; secondly, HF acid etching agent was put up and filtrated. Then titanium discs were etched and post cure heat treatment (PHT) was done under pressure. Using these treating methods, bonding strength of resin-to-titanium was effectively increased. The adhesive mechanism was also discussed. At last, the possibility of increasing bonding strength of resin-to-titanium by infrared treatment and microarc oxidation was explored. The purpose of this dissertation were to explore and develop new methods which can increase bonding strength of resin-to-titanium simply and effectively, were to probe the adhesive mechanism between resin and titanium and to evaluate bonding capability of Solidex resin to titanium. All theseresearch were much helpful to clinical application of titanium-resin bonding restoration. The results revealed:1. It's demonstrated with infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy that there's mainly included polyacrylate and acrylic acid monomer in metal photo primer of Solidex hybrid composite, whose primary function were to increase wettability of opaque and to form chemical bonding with surface of metal.2. When hybrid composite resin was bonding with different titanium alloys, the bonding strength was also different. But machining methods of pure titanium, casting or machining, had no significant influence on bonding strength.3. The size of Al2O3 particle of sand blasting had significant influence on bonding strength between titanium and resin. It was found that using biggish Al2C3 particle, 250m-300m, can remarkably improve wettability of metal surface and increase surface roughness, and stronger bonding strength can be obtained.4. There were a lot of Al2O3 particle embedded into surface of titanium after sand blasting and it was hard to clean out. It revealed that cleaning out the remainder of A12O3 particle was helpful to increase bonding strength of resin-to-titanium. The different cleaning methods had different effect to eliminate the remainder of Al2O3 particle. It was suggested that puissant ultrasonic rinse should be used.5. It can obtained greater bonding strength by using HF acid etching agent to etch titanium discs together with brushing primer after sand blasting than by using primer singly. The greatest bonding strength was obtained with 4% HF acid etching agent. After etching, contact angle of metal surface decreased significantly. The smallest contact angle was got with 4% HF acid etching agent. Within certain ranges, an increase in concentration of etching agent would lead to a decrease in surface roughness.6. Infrared treatment can increase bonding strength of resin-to-titanium, but itwas hard to repeat.7. Post cure heat treatment (PHT) under pressure increased mi...
