Mental Capsule On Cerebral Atherosclerosis Cerebral Insufficiency, Cerebral Ischemia And Memory Impairment In Experimental Research

The purpose of this research is to study the preventive and curative effects and the mechanism on cerebral atherosclerosis of Naolikang Capsule with the actions of supplementing Liver and Kidney, replenishing essence and Marrow and quickening blood and freeing vessels. (1) It was observed that Naolikang Capsule exerted influence on cerebral blood flow (CBF), cerebral vascular resistance (CVR), blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) in dog models with ZhenNaoning Capsule as the positive control. The results shows that Naolikang Capsule can increase CBF, decrease CVR and lower BP, and slow HR in its high dose, and some dose-effect relationship shows in lowering CVR and BP. (2) Naolikang Capsule's effects on cerebral water content, brain index, Ca2+, Glu, Asp, Gly, GABA, SOD, MDA and NO in rat models of incomplete cerebral ischemia were observed with Zhennaoning Capsule as the positive control. The results indicate that Naolikang Capsule can decrease the neurotoxicity of the excitatory amino acids and NO in cerebral ischemia, prevent Ca2+ overload. lessen the damage from free radical and enhance the activity of SOD so that it can alleviate cerebral edema. (3) The pathologic models of memory acquired disturbance, memory consolidation disturbance and memory repetition deficiency were duplicated in rats on which the effects of Naolikang Capsule were observed with Piracetam as the positive control. The results suggest tI~at Naolikang Capsule can reduce the times of platform-jumping error in the memory-consolidation-disturbance rat models resulted from NaNO2 and rectify the latent period of errors. It has no obvious effect on the memory acquired disturbance models from Scopolamine and the memory repetition deletion from A]cohol. Conclusions: (1) Naolikang Capsule can increase CBF, decrease CVR, lower BP and slow HR. (2) Naolikang Capsule has protective effects on cerebral ischemia, whose mechanism is decreasing the neurotoxicity of excitatory neural transmitters and NO, rectifying the disorder of amino acid neural transmitters in cerebral ischemia tissue, inhibiting the reaction of free radicals, lessening the overload of Ca2+ and promoting the activity of SOD. (3) Naolikang Capsule has relatively good therapeutic effects on memory? disturbance resulted from oxygen deficit. (4) Naolikang Capsule has confirmed effects in the prevention and cure of cerebral atherosclerosis.
