ObjectiveThis paper is to study college students' injury characteristics and influencing factors, proposes intervention control strategies and evaluates its effects, hence provides scientific reference for college students'injury control.ContentsTo summarize injury epidemiology, psychology, behavioral science and management science and other disciplines related to theoretical analysis.To study characteristics and influencing factors of injuries among college students and intervention measures.To suggest preventing strategies, carry out students' injury intervention and evaluate the preventing strategies.MethodsThis research withdraws totally2186students among the grade2008and grade2009undergraduates in one of Wuhan's comprehensive universities through the method of cluster random sampling. In early January,2011, in virtue of schools'organization, the occurrence of college students'injury, fundamental states of college students, the injury KABP state and psychological status were intensively investigated from January1st,2010to December31st,2010. The relevant influencing factors of college students' injury had been discussed by means of comparative study of the medical cases, factor analysis and the logistic return of multi-factor condition. During the period of January1st,2011to December31st,2011, the intervention to subjects investigated had been put into practice. After this intervention, a return visit to the subjects investigated had been implemented in January,2012. This paper compared the injury incident rate before or after the intervention and situation of change of college students'knowledge and practice of injury by again collecting the data and questionnaire and baseline survey.ResultsThe happening actualities and the incidence rate of college students' injury:281college students were injuried.The incidence rate of injury is12.93%.Injurries occurred456times and the density rate is20.98%. Injury from fall, traffic injuries and sharp instrument injury of college students' injury are in the majority. The time of origin of college students'injury has obvious seasonal nature, highest in autumn, lowest in summer, among which October is the highest while February is the lowest. The occurrence places of college students'injury are mainly on campus, and then at home. The activity types of the injury occurrence are mainly physical exercise and cycle. College students'injury mainly centers upon accident and intentional injury is quite few; the form of occurrence of injury is mainly self mutilation. Multiple injuries on which students who suffered3times or more in one year accounts for1.56percent. The body position of college students'injury is mainly on lower limbs and then upper limbs and the head and the face. The nature of the injury is mainly the body-surface mar, and then the wrench and the subcutaneous tissue injury. The processing mode of injury mainly lies in the injured themselves and classmates or family members, and then school infirmary. The injury prognosis in which the site of injury is out of sorts accounts for5.48percent and those who are limited to study and daily life account for2.85percent.The psychological status investigation of college students'injury KABP shows that the average score in knowledge part is66.21±15.37, the average score in attitude is52.45±12.24, the average score in behavior part is63.53±17.83, and the injury KABP level should be further improved. The measurement of college students'mental health by SCL-90measuring scale indicates that18.96percent college students have mental block. Through the comparison between the injury group and non-injury group among college students, seven factors injury group such as "depression","anxiety","interpersonal relationship","hostility","psychotic","somatization" and "horror" are higher than those of non-injury group, and the difference of which is statistically significant.The relevant influencing factors of college students'injury:by means of comparative study of the medical cases, factor analysis and the logistic return of multi-factor condition, there are altogether5common factors entering the equation, they are injury KABP condition, economic condition, mental block, accident proneness and family relationship.The intervention implementation and effect assessment of college students' injury:The KABP-model has been chosen as the theoretical principle of intervention through the research on change theory of health-related behaviors.The incident rate of college students'injury after the intervention decreased by1.65percent than that before the intervention; the incident density of college students'injury after the intervention decreased by3.85percent than that before the intervention; the multiple injury of college students after the intervention decreased by1.77percent than that before the intervention. The knowledge score of college students'injury after the intervention increased by11.92points than that before the intervention, the difference of which shows the statistical significance(P<0.01); The attitude score of college students'injury after the intervention increased by0.95point than that before the intervention and the comparison of the behavior before and after intervention has8behavior differences which suggests the statistical significance(P<0.05), which reflects that intervention exerted positive influence on injury behavior of college students.ConclusionsSince injuries of college students have internal rules,we can take prevent measures according to these rules.The level of KABP among college students is low and the level need to be improved. The level of psychological condition among college students is poor.The relevant influencing factors of college students'injury:Injury KABP condition, mental block, accident proneness, family relationship and economic condition.The intervention taking peer education and psychological consultation as the dominant factors exerts great influence on college students'injury knowledge and attitudes. At the same time, it also influences and changes the correlation behavior of part of college students'injury, which will have a positive impact on preventing and controlling the happening of college students'injury and which is worth being publicizing and popularizing.Building college students'injury preventing mode of four level management nets.We should build the intervention system of injury among college students based on organization of school.Intervention of injury among college students should be continuous.We advocate the equalization of the fundamental public health service to prevent and control the happening of college students'injury.InnovationsThe innovation of the research contents:the report concerned with inventory survey on the injury among the primary and secondary students exists at home and abroad, but the research on injury among the college students, especially on the on-site prevention is few and restricted to cross-sectional study. However, the college students are the main forces of China's economic and social development, which play a crucial role in infrastructure and social production.Innovation of intervention:peer education is a kind of lively and acceptant and sound educational mode which is well received among college students. This paper interiorly takes the lead in launching the intervention taking the peer education and psychological consultation as the dominant factors in connection with the injury among the college students, which proves that peer education as the measure to prevent the injury among college students is endowed with feasibility and ease for operation and better effect.Innovation of preventive strategy:this paper comes up with building college students'injury preventing mode combining with four level management nets. The paper build the intervention system of injury among college students based on organization of school.Intervention of injury among college students should be continuous. The paper advocates the equalization of the fundamental public health service to prevent and control the happening of college students'injury. LimitationsThis research institute in the intervention of the cycle for one year,but whether the knowledge about ascension or attitude changes and even change of behavior have short-term phenomenon.It needs long-term outcome evaluation for future.Because of this study condition and the funds limit,only in wuhan area from one university survey and intervention,and uses the intervention of before and after their own control method. We should expand the range,the choice of different regions in comparative study of college students.
