Based on summing up these data,the methods such as frequency statistics, association rule, cluster analysis combined with golden section method are used to analyze the herbs and symptoms in the cases.The results of frequency statistics shows:the rate that the female manifesting bupleurum syndromes is higher than male,but this is not directly related to physiological periods including pregnancy, delivery and menstruation. The syndromes are related to many viscera-fu systems such as liver and gallbladder, spleen and stomach, heart, kidney and lung,etc. There is not any obvious difference appearing in these systems. Mainly three symptoms including fever, nausea and vomiting, fullness in the chest and hypochondriac discomfort,etc manifest when Zhang ZhongJing used this formula. Among 394 cases collected in this paper, taut pulse is the most important manifestation in bupleurum syndrome. In addition,red tongue, thin and white tongue fur, fever, poor appetite, bitter taste in the mouth are also main symptoms, herbs in the formula are crucial, when used, RenShen are often used instead of DangShen.The results of cluster analysis demonstrates:usually the formula is modified or not.the correspondence between formula and syndromes is showed at the changes of symptoms in different clusters and modification of herbs.The results of association rule illustrates:orrelative confidence between herbs or pairs of them above 66% shows high tightness and stable internal structure of the formula; Influence ratio of the single herb or pairs of them on main symptoms above 61.8% reveals correspondence between formula and syndromes;lower support and confidence between two symptoms or symptoms teams in association rule explain there is no positive connection among these symptoms, which also elucidate the reason why zhang zhongjing presents "Minor decoction of Bupleurum could be given, once one of the Syndromes what Shaoyang disease manifest came out".
