Neither does this thesis try to explain and analyze the memorial express with the idea of designer, nor does it understand the deep implication of memorial from the symbol relationship between form and meaning. This thesis observes several phenomena which can induce the feeling of monumentality completely and objectively as an appreciative spectator. It explains the monumentality of architecture from the attitude of "use the truth to certify". In the course of appreciation, by means of the psychological source of memorial feeling spectator can be devided from two groups——monumental object and common spectator. In fact the former's memorial feeling is an indirect express of some kind of psychological need of themselves. To identify it needs scrupulous rational analysis that concern many social factor of ethics, culture, history, etc. And the latter's memorial feeling is just from the sensation feeling of "simple, direct". It has no relationship between the former in the generation mechanism. But there subsist some similar fabric feeling in their final appreciative products. Neverthe less, to different appreciative objects, the identity of above two can be alternate or combined. From this angle to investgate monumentality, not only can we keep off the "disturbance" of complex theory of design, fiding the material psychological dependence, but also make the various memorial expression becoming more and more clear by "single" analysis. And it can provide some theoretical direction for practical activity. |
