Agricultural areas are important agricultural production bases. They can actively promote the development of other sectors of agriculture, relying on the advantages of resources, society, economy and technology, and promote the coordination among agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery.Coupling of agriculture and animal husbandry is an advanced production mode during the agricultural development, and it can strengthen the links between farming and stockbreeding, which means “animal husbandry is driven by agriculture”, and “agriculture is promoted by animal husbandry”, to increase the recycling of resources, promote the co-ordinary development between agriculture and animal husbandry, and increase the production of both of them. Coupling of agriculture and animal husbandry is both a natural and an artificial coupling; the abundant straw in agricultural areas provides adequate forage resources for the development of breed-stocking, while the animal manure is the organic fertilizer to improve soil fertility and produce green food. It’s an effective way to promote sustainable development of agriculture and achieve the agricultural circular economy.Tarim river basin, an important part of Xinjiang, including Bazhou, Akesu, Kashgar, Kezhou and Hotan, is a ghetto mainly consisting of Uygur. The basin occupies a large land, with a high population, a farming economy, a slow production and life style, a low population quality and poor concept of development and its ecological environment is very fragile. Accelerating the basin’s economic development of agriculture and animal husbandry has a far-reaching significance, and it can improve farmers’ income, maintain social stability and protect the fragile ecological environment. At the same time, the Tarim Basin is an important agricultural region in Xinjiang. It is a major production area of food crops and cash crops. So studying the coupling of agriculture and animal husbandry can solve the problem of ecological environment, optimize the farming resources, improve the level of resource utilization, strengthen the society and economy, promote the virtuous cycle of farming systems, and finally achieve the sustainable development of the agricultural economy in the basin. The study is based on theoretical research, the study analyzes the utilization mechanism of coupling resources of farming and animal husbandry. It reveals that the system of agriculture and animal husbandry is a complex, natural, social, and economic system. Farming coupling is a result of both the natural action, and human activities in society. At present, the coupling’s social property is notable. Planting and breeding industry affect and restrict mutually, driven by nature, social economy, regulations and policies. As an advanced mode of agriculture production, the coupling can increase agriculture productivity and resource utilization, making the agricultural industry chain steadier, and agricultural industry structure more reasonable. The study makes a qualitative analysis of the current situation on the macro and micro levels. Based on analysis of the panel data, it can be obtained that the river basin economy is mainly agricultural production, that the proportion of tertiary industry is slightly higher although the three production structures are continuously adjusted, that all kinds of resources are unevenly distributed, that there is a big difference from the state’s economy in river basin, that the development between agriculture and stockbreeding is unbalanced, and that the features of traditional agriculture are notable. Through the analysis of the aggregated data of the questionnaires, it can be found that the agricultural development is dominated by farming in river basin, while stockbreeding functions only as a secondary part, that most of agriculture individuals do agricultural production by experience, and that the level of recycling agricultural wastes needs to be improved. Meanwhile, with the combination of the present situation analysis and field research, this paper analyzes the existing problems of the coupling of agriculture and animal husbandry during its development. The study has quantitatively analyzed the coupling degree and resource recycling levels in the river area through building models. The results show that there is a higher coupling degree between planting and breeding industry, but the two systems have varying degrees in development, and the two systems have got to a state of good coordination after adjustment from the previous state which was severely unbalanced. And the comprehensive utilization level of agriculture and animal husbandry resources shows a rising trend. The study has analyzed the achievement path and organizational model of coupling agriculture and animal husbandry resources in river basin with the typical cases. The analysis has found that different coupling paths have formed during agricultural development in Tarim river basin, including the traditional coupling of agriculture and animal husbandry, the coupling of farming and animal husbandry based on the use of resources, the coupling based on new technology, as well as the coupling based on the extension of industry chain. There are different ways of coupling in each path. Organizations are the practitioner of the coupling of farming and animal husbandry. Different organizational models have formed during the coupling and these organizations have made the theory of the coupling of agriculture and animal husbandry achieved, have strengthened the ties among agriculture-related industries in their own development, and all together have promoted the development of agricultural economy in Tarim Basin.
