Mobile cloud computing has become the top technology trend over the next few years, and has recently attracted significant attention from both academia and industry. Address Space Transformation (AST) is a concistency maintenance technology for interactive collaboration applications. It can provide real-time and smooth interaction experiences for users on mobile networks, which usually has high communication latency and intermittent network connections. However, new requirements of interactive collaboration applications in the mobile cloud raise some new problems and significant challenges to AST technology.Based on the recent research results of address space transformation, this dissertation makes the following three major contributions to reflect the new fea-tures and new requirements of interative collaboration applications in the mobile cloud:1. An adddress space transformation approach for interative collaboration applications in the mobile cloud. This work comprehensively extends and im-proves existing AST techonology in aspects of synchronization protocol, address space transformation algorithms, garbage collection and user session management etc.. It enables AST to effectively support mobile cloud interative collaboration applications. Because of the elimination of the denpendency on vector times-tamps, this approach is well suited for large-scale and highly-dynamic interative collaboration applications. And the garbage collection mechanism is helpful for both cloud servers and mobile devices to reduce the comsumption of storage and network resources.2. A partial replication and consistency maintenance approach for tree-based interactive collaboration applications in the mobile cloud. This is the first work on consistency maintenance of partially replicated shared data in collaborative applications, and is the first work of applying collaborative editing technologies in commenting systems. By extending the centralized synchronization protocol and AST algorithms for partial replication, a holistic approach for partial replication and synchronization of tree structures is proposed. The evaluation results show that this approach is capable of providing high local responsiveness for users in high-latency and intermittent mobile networks, saving storage and bandwidth resources for mobile users. And its high efficiency and good scalability makes it promising for achieving large scale tree-based interative collaboration applications.3. A transparent approach for interoperating heterogeneous collaborative edting services in the cloud. This is the first work on transparently interoperating cloud services of collaborative editing. It addresses the issues of automatic inter-ation with cloud services, and achieves the interoperation of collaborative editing services in the cloud when lacking unified standard and necessary APIs. This approach is transparent for both service provider and users. Service providers do not need to put any effort into interoperating with other services; users do not need to install any software or plug-ins, and are allowed to use their familiar services to participate in the cross-cloud document collaboration.
