| The thesis analyzes the literature of TCM from Han Dynasty to the end of the year 2004 and the recipes and herbs treating metrorrhagia and metrostaxis recorded in them with the means of combining literature research and statistic analysis. The thesis is divided into three parts: In the first part, the thesis summarizes systematically the disease's name, clinical characters, category, age characters, pathogen and pathogenesis, differentiation of symptoms and signs, principle and method of treatment, and recipe and herbs by the means of traditional literature research and collecting related ancient and modern literature.In the second part, the thesis studies the recipes treating Metrorrhagia and Metrostaxis with statistic methods; analyzes the treatment condition and characters of Metrorrhagia and Metrostaxis of the times before Song Dynasty, Song, Jin and Yuan Dynasty, Ming and Qing Dynasty and every historical periods of modern times from the view point of frequency analysis, factor analysis and collection analysis; analyzes and discusses holistically the disease's order of recipe and herbs, syndromes and treatment and order of herbs compatibility.In the third part, based on the results of literature research and statistics analysis, and in combination with the theories of TCM, the thesis re-recognizes the disease's pathogen and pathogenesis, category, clinical thoughts and order of treatment based on differentiation of symptoms and signs. The thesis puts forward originally the new viewpoint that the pathogenesis of Metrorrhagia and Metrostaxis is that"the instability of the kidney-Tiangui-Chong and Ren channels axis, and mainly the instability of the kidney's function leads to the irregularity of blood storing and pouring in the uterus". In this part, the thesis summarizes basic recipes and herbs treating Metrorrhagia andMetrostaxis ,and puts forward new thoughts of treatment of Metrorrhagia and Metrostaxis based on differentiation of symptoms and signs.
