Worldwidely, quality of life (QOL) research is a new, yet rapidly developing health measure technique. With the survival prolongation of cancer patients, their QOL research has been increasingly recognized as an important subject. The foreign QOL research has a history of over 40 years, and the year 1976 witnessed the start of modern QOL research, which is the prime of human life.Generally, now there is a growing consensus that QOL is a subjective and multidimensional construct, which mainly covers the physical domain, spiritual-/psychological domain, social domain and general domain, and that the inclusion of QOL evaluation in medical practise and health policy making, by means of the development, revision and assessment of QOL rating scales, should be encouraged.
