Computers are becoming an integral part of dental education and dental practice. The technology of 3D virtual reality helps dental students receive more morphological information but in an easier way than conventional dental education. The aim of this research program is to develop an inexpensive 3D multimedia platform that can be shared on personal computers to enhance the efficiency for Prosthodontical education both to students in classes and patients in clinics. Firstly, a bank of 3D digital models within Prosthodontics curriculum were established by a variety of modeling ways in Windows. Secondly, all 3D models were given edited texture and rendered to produce hundreds of pictures and motion pictures as materials for the media system. Finally a multimedia platform, which was filled with texts, pictures, videos and the bank of 3D Prosthodontical models, collected corresponding information in chapters to present a new, entertaining and interactive way of learning Prosthodontics.
