| Objective: To test the hypoglycemic effect of Gegen, and to provide the scientific basis for treating in clinic and exploiting new drug. Methods: Hyperglycemic rats that induced by alloxan and streptozotocin were treated with the extract of Gegen, the BG,HbA1c, C-peptide, serum insulin and hemorheological items of MD rats were checked. Results: Gegen significantly lowered the BG and HbA1c, of DM rats, concentration of serum insulin and C-peptide increased and many hemorheological items were ameliorated in STZ-induced diabetic rats. Conclusion: Gegen can be used as prevention and cure the diabetes, diabetic syndrome.
