Objective:Through the study and analysis of the diagnosis and treatment of spleen and stomach diseases in Yi Fa Yuan Tong, this dissertation attends to reveal the distinguishing feature of Dr. Zheng’s experiences in syndrome differentiation and treatment.Methods:This dissertation research is based on Yi Fa Yuan Tong, together with Dr. Zheng’s Yi Li Zhen Zhuan and Shang Han Heng Lun. Using the research methods of analogy, analysis, verification, and explanation, this dissertation revives the theory of Dr. Zheng, especially his experiences of Yang deficiency syndrome.Results:Dr. Zheng expounded seven kinds of diseases about spleen and stomach, namelyanorexia, vomiting and diarrhea, stomachache, umbilical pain, hiccup, regurgitation, and crapulous syncope. The main syndromes areYang deficiency syndrome, Yin deficiency, exogenous syndrome, and internal injury diet syndrome. The main treatments are replenish Yang and save inverse, purgative and save Yin, evacuation of evils, and promoting digestion and eliminating stagnation.Conclusion:Dr. Zheng emphasized the efficiency of Yuan Yin and Yuan Yang, as they are the roots of the life activities of the human body. Dr. Zheng believed that all diseases could be understood from the and Yang analysis, and all diseases could be caused by Yang deficiency, but not all diseases have only have Yang deficiency syndrome. Dr. Zheng’s theory put emphasis on the importance of Yang while recognizing the effect of Yin, so that it leads to a comprehensive understanding of diseases and efficient prescriptions. Therefore, it is significant to study and apply Dr. Zheng’s experiences in diagnosis and treatment of spleen and stomach diseases.
