Inheritance And Development Of Traditional Chinese Medicine Surgery In The Synopsis Of The Golden Chamber

Objectives:To change the medical phenomenon of focusing on clinic results rather than classic theories that widely exists in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at present, protect the vitality of TCM classics, and improve the curative effects of TCM practice, this study, from the viewpoint of Chinese external medicine, aims to find out its correlation with the TCM classic of Essentials from the Golden Cabinet, so as to help improving the theoretical and clinical levels of TCM disciplines especially the Chinese external medicine, and to provide references for accelerating the inheritance and promotion of TCM classics.Methods:By means of documentary research, this study were conducted focusing on the following three contents:first, excavated and systemized the "principles, methods, formulas, and medicinals" system for miscellaneous diseases in Essentials from the Golden Cabinet, detailedly, the theoretical systems including reason, pathogenesis, patterns and treatment, the methods of diagnosis, differentiation and therapies, and the features of formula compatibility and administration; second, excavated and systemized the works and academic thoughts of representative surgeons in later generations, as well as the modern application researches in external medicine; third, concluded and summarized the inheritance and promotion of "principles, methods, formulas, and medicinals" of Essentials from the Golden Cabinet in Chinese external medicine, and the correlation between this classic and external medicine discipline. Results:1. As the clinical monograph for miscellaneous diseases, the Essentials from the Golden Cabinet have laid a good foundation and showed great clinical guiding significance for TCM clinical disciplines.2. As to the "principles, methods, formulas, and medicinals" system of Essentials from the Golden Cabinet, its theoretical thoughts (e.g. about the attack, reason, pathogenesis, therapeutic principle, prevention, nursing, prognosis, compatibility etc.) and methodological rules (e.g. about the four diagnostic methods, disease and pattern differentiation, treatment, medicinal administration, etc.) were both showing crucial guiding significance for TCM external medicine.3. The Essentials from the Golden Cabinet discussed the disease, pulse, pattern and treatment of some external diseases, which showed direct guiding significance for surgeons in later generation to recognize, diagnose and treat those diseases.4. As to the surgeons in later generations, the features of their academic thoughts, the experience of their clinical practice, and the research of their modern application were all the inheritance and promotion based on the "principles, methods, formulas, and medicinals" system of Essentials from the Golden Cabinet.Conclusions:1. The Essentials from the Golden Cabinet has guiding significance for TCM external medicine, and the miscellaneous diseases discussed in the book covers the external diseases.2. The Essentials from the Golden Cabinet has crucial guiding significance for TCM external medicine in the following three aspects:theoretical thoughts, methodological rules, and external diseases and patterns.3. The "principles, methods, formulas, and medicinals" system of Essentials from the Golden Cabinet is widely inherited and promoted in the field of TCM external medicine.4. The "principles, methods, formulas, and medicinals" system of Essentials from the Golden Cabinet is closely related to TCM external medicine, and there is a fundamental-guidance and applying-promotion relationship between the two.
