Landscape Architecture is an integrated system which is ralized with certain economic conditions. It must meet the needs of society, comply with the law of nature, follow ecological principles, and simultaneously it belongs to the category of art If a work of landscape architecture is kept to be vitality, it must achieve a balance among these factors as a whole.The purpose of this paper is to analyze and resolve the various complex problems in landscape architecture using a core ideology of balance theory, which is a perspective of wholeness and synergy.Firstly, this paper proposed the core essence and application value of Balance theory based on related references. This paper combines theoretical studies of landscape architecture and the current situation of landscape planning, and ueses philosophical method of reasoning and argument analysis to systematically demonstrated the importance of balance for landscape architecture with the conclusion that"landscape architecture needs balance".Secondly, this paper, with the guidance of system thought in balance theory, analyzes the factors of landscape attributes and builds the attribute system of Landscape Architecture. With analysis of positive and negative cases, aiming to create a support environment for landscape planning, this paper proposes the Landscape Architecture Criticism based on the attribute system of landscape architecture and balance theory.Moreover, this paper put forward the aim to a harmony based on principles of wholeness and synergy using interdisciplinary, innovative ways, the relationship and value of all factors.Lastly, This paper attempts to draw wholeness and synergy emphasized by balance theory into the process of landscape planning, and access a method of landscape planning, the characteristic of which is balance. In addition, six major areas were proposed at the end of this paper as supplementary material.
