The Human Machine Interface (HMI) in main control room of power plant is the medium and connection between operators and generator sets. The well designed HMI has very important effect to improve the interactive efficiency of human machine interface and can ensure the run security of generator sets. The forecast evaluation based on virtual technology is an important approach to improve the design quality of HMI.The evaluation of HMI includes the geometrical parameter evaluation of HMI and the coherence evaluation between the designed HMI and the subjective expectation of users. At present, the developed evaluation software of geometrical parameter is not compatible with the modeling software environment. Therefore the valuators have to transform the software environment between evaluation and modeling frequently, so the usability of developed evaluation software is dissatisfactory. At the same time, the developed subjective evaluation software of HMI is based on static environment, so the dynamic relationship between display information and control information can not be shown clearly also. Therefore, it has an important engineering application value to seek a real-time evaluation method for geometrical parameters design and evaluation, and the functional simulation evaluation methods for subjective expectation.Aiming at the problems mentioned above, a virtual evaluation method on HMI in main control room of power plant is proposed based on digital simulation technology. The main research contents are as follows:1. Research on the appropriate theories of subjective evaluation.Up to now, the theories of subjective evaluation have been the focus of evaluation on HMI, and they are still under discussion. Theories of uncertain system are compared in this paper, and the evaluation method which is suitable for subjective evaluation on HMI in main control room of power plant is proposed.2. Research on the human model used in evaluationHuman model is an important component of HMI. At present, there is still not a Chinese human model that can be used directly in the evaluation software environment. The developing environment and constructing method of human model used in objective evaluation are researched in this paper, and the developed Chinese adult human model can be used in objective evaluation on HMI in real-time manner.3. Research on the functional simulation evaluation methods of main control room The subjective evaluation environment of HMI should be consonant with the real one, and in that case, the dynamic relationship between each element of the system can be show truly during the system running. Based on virtual instrument technology, the development method of functional simulation HMI is proposed in this paper, and the functional simulation HMI model of main control room is established.4. Research on subjective and objective evaluation indexes of main control room and the weight of each index.The evaluation indexes are the foundation of quantifying evaluation results. The former research mainly uses the static method, which is short of the notice on evaluation indexes of functional simulation HMI. After researched the component elements of HMI in main control room, the dynamic and static evaluation indexes are proposed and the weight of each index is confirmed.5. Development of HMI comprehensive evaluation softwareBased on the subjective and objective evaluation on HMI in main control room, the software of real-time interactive evaluation and functional simulation evaluation on HMI are integrated, and the comprehensive evaluation software of HMI in main control room is developed.At last, by evaluating the HMI in main control room of Yantai power plant, the evaluation method proposed in this paper are validated, and some suggestions are put forward to improve the design quality of HMI in main control room.
