The safe operation of the nuclear power plant (NPP) is completed mainly through the main control room human-maehine interface (HMI) centralized monitoring and control. There are three types of main control room of NPP, the hard panel control room, digital and hard panel combined control room and full digital control room with hard panel as back-up to prevent the digital equipment fail in common-mode situation. So you can see, in order to avoied the risks of digital equipment in common-mode failure, the traditional hard panel are still remain in main control room of NPP, The back-up panel is an important part of the main control room and an important security barrier in modern NPP. It is very important to develop the ergonomics evaluation technique for designing scientific and reasonable HMI of back-up panel.The main content of this thesis as follows,(1) Based on NUREG-0700 maked by US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), it is widlly used in China's nuclear power industry. A back-up panel's HMI of an NPP is researched, three-dimensional digital models of back-up panel are established, and the evaluation index system of back-up panel is analyzed. In order to ensure the evaluation index reasonable and feasible, the designers and operators of main control room in NPP are invited to investigate the applicability of evaluation index.(2) According to evaluation requirement of HMI for back-up panel in the NPP main control room, the development methods of Chinese adult human model is analyzed. In the view of application for engineering, the methods on human model used in evaluation are researched to satisfy the different needs of evaluation. The human model can be generated in three ways, i. e., the percentile of human body, the height of human body and the custom. In order to adapt the updated of the human model size of national ergonomics standard, the technology of access database are used in the construction of human model, which can make the human model updated when the database of human model is changed.(3) The standard inquiry system for design HMI is proposed. The evaluating dialogs can link the design standards directly, which can provide ergonomics basis for improving the evaluating scheme and improve the efficiency of evaluation and designing.(4) Based on evaluation index system established, the evaluation software used in back-up panel HMI of NPP main control room is develop. Evaluation software includes four functional modules, i. e., the evaluation of display, control, stand-up console and panel layout.(5) The evaluation software and the virtual human model are integrated into the UG platform. By using distance and angle analysis functional modules that UG software self-contained, the ergonomics objective evaluation of back-up panel's HMI is realized. Subjective evaluation is completed by checklist. The subjective and objective evaluation is combined to get comprehensive evaluation.At last, a back-up panel of a main control room of NPP is selected as an example, and the ergonomics evaluation for the back-up panel is carried out by using proposed method. The evaluation method of proposed is validated.
