Research On Gas Generator Of Vehicle Airbag

Vehicle industry has been developed rapidly. Being a kind of transportation tool, vechicle has made people's daily life much more convenient; meanwhile, due to some factors such as excellent properties of the vehicle, crowded transportation and various unexpected issues, it has brought some disasters by traffic accidents. Therefore, the manufactures and customers begin to realize that safety is very important in vehicle properities.The airbag is a critical component in vehicle passive safety system and plays a vital role in vehicle safety technology. Along with the safety belt, the airbag can save the driver and passanger's life in traffic accident.Gas generator is the key part of the safety airbag and it is also the core of the safety airbag technology. The qulity of the gas generator will directly affect the final protection effect of the airbag. Analyzing the property of various gas generators, a new kind of gas generators for vehicle safety airbag is studied on the basis of aboundant theory analysis and test reseraching. It adopts a method of quality function development to analyze and define such parts as electric initiator for gas gnerator, manifold structure strength of gas gnerator, filtering efflect of the filter system, propellant and fire initiating and transferring system.The research of gas gnerator including three aspects :1)the propellant of gas gnerator is researched.The NaN₃ is applied in gas gnerator propellant at pressent as an important material.A new kind of propellant made up of NH₄NO₃,Sr(NO₃)₂,NQ is studied in this paper.This propllant can form a large amount of gas,and it is a type of green propllant.2) the structure of gas generator is researched.The size of gas generator is decreased by the structure majorization.When the gas generator works, the quantity of the solid powder discharging from the gas generator is decreased.The driver and passengers will feel more comfortable. 3) the initiator of gas generator is researched.The all fire current value is 1.7A DC,3ms,the no fire current is 250mA DC, 10s now.In this paper, the no fire current value is increased to 400mA DC, 10s,the all fire current value is decreased to 1.2 A DC, 2ms(with 0.999999 reliability and 0.95 confidence). And the properties of safety and reliability are enhanced.
