The design principle and the preparation technology of initiator embedded safe and arming device(S&A) devices was researched through the coupling of the electronic S&A, the mechanic S&A and planar igniter. It realized the integration design of initiator and S&A, The function of arming, disarming, sterilization, ignition and detonation can be realized in the initiator. The principle prototype was acquired, and the function and performance of the component were studied in this paper. The main research contents and results were shown as follows:(1) The structure of the initiator integrated S&A devices was composed of electronic S&A layer, input charge layer, mechanic S&A layer and output charge layer. The electronic S&A layer consisted of three ON-OFF micro switches, one OFF-ON switch and two planar igniters connected by the copper microelectronic circuits according to certain logic function. The mechanic S&A layer main consisted of the micro spring with slider and bayonet lock, and it was among of the input charge layer and output layer. The ignition powder in the input-charge layer was ignited by the planar igniter-2 on the electronic layer, and it produced hyperthermia and high pressure gas to arm the mechanic lock.(2) It was proceeded that the electric-thermal simulation of the snake-shape resistor in the micro switch and igniter and the static structure simulation of bayonet lock arming of the mechanic S&A layer by the ANSYS Workbench software. The results of the electric-thermal simulation showed that resistor structure 1# and 2# can be heated to more than 800℃ during 2.5s, and they also proved the corner effect of the snake-shape resistor. The results of the static structural simulation of the micro-mechanic S&A layer showed that 65-spring manganese steel was the best material of the micro spring and the critical pressure of mechanic arming was 4.5MPa.(3) It was researched that the preparation of principle prototype of the initiator integrated with S&A devices. The ON-OFF switches, OFF-ON switches and the planar igniters were fabricated on the silicon by the MEMS technology. The micro-spring with slider, bayonet lock and chamber were prepared by micro-fabrication technology. The black powder was used as ignition powder. It was ignited by the planar on the electronic S&A layer and produced lots of hyperthermia and high pressure gas to accomplish the mechanic arming function. The control circuit was designed preliminarily to accomplish the control function of the whole device.(4) The function of electronic S&A layer and mechanic S&A layer was tested. The results showed that the 2# snake-shape resistor can be heated more than 540℃ under the voltage of 28V during 1.89s, which was consistent with the results of the electric-thermal simulation. It proved that the switch transformer function of the ON-OFF switches and the OFF-ON switch can be accomplished reliably, which demonstrated the feasibility of the electronic S&A layer. The mechanic S&A was armed successfully which used 5mg black powder as ignition powder. This demonstrated the feasibility of the mechanic S&A layer.Installing security agencies inside the pyrotechnics is easy to realize the integration an d improve the security and reliability of pyrotechnics. This will certainly meet the need of new generation of pyrotechnics and lay the foundation of theoretical basis.
