At the beginning of the middle of 19th century, Macau was starting the new development In early modern time. Those changes, expressed in society,policies,economic,culture etc , were more profound than early. Under this background, there were many differences in the new development of city and Architecture of early modern times.Macau government carried out many new colonial policies. The early policies configuration of Macau was entirely broken. In the circumstances, the new urban construction of the city was put into practice by Portuguese government in Macau. the boundaries of Macau city was extended bigger and bigger in virtue of colonial invading and filling the nearby sea. It was the foundation of following new construction. Subsequently, the new projects were in progress including urban renew, harbor planning, landscape design, etc, which drastically changed old city context configuration of Macau. The architecture of Macau was in new progress. Under new society circumstances, the economic configuration was also changed. The quantity of architecture type was increased. The architecture style was also diversified. Those things, including changes of the technique of construction and the emergence of the new material, were important factors that promote originally way of construction. The system of administrative organization was also consummating gradually, meanwhile the rules and regulations were issued, and those factors changed the original way of construction.By the 1920s, the city and architecture of Macau had finished the modern change basically. After the steady development in early time and the profound change in early modern time, the city of Macau had formed the multiple cultures and the unique urban architecture culture in transformation of merging variant culture.
