Research On The Urban Environment And Context Of Macau City

Intercourse and association of the eastern and the western culture were particular phenomenon in more than 400 years history of Macau. The city inherited the culture heritage of Portugal and China. It is a historic city that belongs to history of world traffic, trade and culture.The dissertation was one part of the cooperative research project of"Macau architectural heritage"which was presided over by my tutor Professor Liu Xianjue. Research on the urban environment and context of Macau city has particular characteristic effective utilization of culture resource,which improves the identity of Macau, also understands and grasps the particularity and value of the context.The text includes four chapters, introduction and epilogue. The introduction analyzed the purpose, meaning and orgnization of the title. The first chapter has discussed alteration of geographical environment, variance of population, transformation of structure of districts, evolvement of city form in Macau from historic point of view. The second chapter has analyzed node, street and edge of Macau and expatiated on the representative case in detail. The third chapter reviewed the city architecture of Macau from macroscopical and microcosmic standpoint. The fourth chapter analyzed basic idea and continuity of contextual characteristics. The epilogue summarizes the achievement and value of Macau city, brings forward prospect of future of Macau, meanwhile, the dissertation puts forward some useful suggestions for reference.The dissertation is about 124 thousand words and about 100 illustrations.
