Objective:In order to resolve the problem that the plate structure can not be distracted and the inter-fixation of spine accord more with the biomechanics of spine, to improve the posterior inter-fixation stability, the rate of bone union of the short segment fracture of the spine and improve the operating efficiency of the clinical surgeon, a new posterior device of gear distraction plate for spine reduction and fixation (GDP) was designed according to the iconographic measurement of the radian of spine and height, width of vertebral body. Methods: For the sake of providing the rational data for designing the GDP, 129 cases of normal person's radian of spine flexion,extension and the height, width of vertebrae were obtained by use of Iconographic measurement. On base of iconographic measurement and literature, the draw and the shape of GDP were designed. Carry the biomechanical study of GDP and the test of reduction and fixation. Results: GDP for Chinese human being has an ideal reduction and fixation ability and it also has rational biomechanical stability.
