Under demand of the National Nature Science Foundation Project(No. 40172104) - "Tourmaline's Spontaneous Polarizing Mechanism and its Environment-purifying Ability Research" and based on many information collected, our research direction was chose on tourmaline 's poles characteristic.In this thesis, both mechanism of absorption and electrode reaction and their influencing factors - charged situation on surface or in crystal, were studied through absorption experiments, pH value experiment and negative ion experiments combined with infrared spectrum (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronics microscope (SEM), et al.The crystal structure of two tourmaline species was measured to testified tourmaline's polar structure again and main influencing factor of charge equilibrium is due to foreign ion's isomorphous substitution on Y site.It is the first time to suggested that tourmaline's absorption of gas molecules CH4, O2 and CO2 is not happening on tourmaline's surface but in its inner crystal structure, because it is found that the adsorption amount of gases is apparently not related with specific surface area. The absorption of CO2 in tourmaline has two forms: six-ring absorption and electrostatic polar absorption, which take place in turn to show CO2 's action on charge equilibrium in crystal structure.The absorption of heavy metal ions and acid radical ions on tourmaline surfaces is due to mechanism of surface absorption, which happened on common minerals, and mechanism of electrostatic polar attracting. It is shown that surface absorption is influenced by tourmaline's surface charged feature and its charged situation in the crystal.It is also the first time found in our research that tourmaline have strong reduction ability in water solution, it supply electrons to make metal ions into atoms and H+ ions into hydrogen gas under action of tourmaline pole.The most important factor of the electrode reaction is existence of water molecule and surface's state of particles during the reaction, and the metal ion on surface releasing into water and absorbing H+ ability from water is the initial condition of reactions.In addition, tourmaline's permanent electrostatic poles were confirmed and its repetition application was discussed. And initial research on its ability of producing negative ion was done and the ability is also regarded as result of electrode reaction...
