Purpose:In this study, patients with lumbar disc herniation secondary to radicular sciatica were used as study subjects. The clinical efficacy of face acupuncture therapy on this disease was investigated to provide a reference basis for the clinical treatment of lumbar disc herniation secondary to radicular sciatica.Material and method:Sixty patients with lumbar disc herniation secondary to radicular sciatica who met the inclusion criteria were selected for the study.Patients were randomly grouped using the random number table method and divided into a control group and a treatment group of 30 cases each.Patients in the control group were treated with conventional acupuncture, and patients in the treatment group were treated with acupuncture points according to face acupuncture therapy, and both groups received acupuncture treatment3 times a week for a total of 18 times for 6 weeks.Evaluation indexes were used:(1)Visual simulation score(0,1,2,3,4,5,6 weeks)(2)Oswestry dysfunction index(0,6 weeks)(3)Time of taking pain medication(4)Efficacy evaluation. The intra-group and inter-group differences before and after treatment were compared between the two groups, and statistical analysis was used to evaluate the differences in the efficacy of the two treatments for lumbar disc herniation secondary to radicular sciatica.Results:1.Before treatment, the differences in gender, age, disease duration,VAS scores and ODI scores between the two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05)and were comparable.2.VAS score results: After treatment, the VAS scores of patients in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);compared between groups, the VAS scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The VAS scores at each visit point of both groups were reduced compared with those before treatment, and the efficacy of the treatment group was better than that of the control group, and the difference between the VAS scores of the treatment group and the control group was statistically significant from the 3rd week(P<0.05).3.ODI score results: After treatment, the ODI scores of patients in both groups were significantly decreased after intra-group comparison, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);compared between groups, the difference in ODI scores between the two groups was not significant(P>0.05).4.Time of taking pain medication: the difference between the two groups in the time of taking pain medication during treatment was not significant(P>0.05).5.Efficacy evaluation: after treatment, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 90%;the total effective rate of the control group was 83%,and there was no significant difference in efficacy between the groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Both face acupuncture and conventional acupuncture can effectively relieve sciatica secondary to lumbar disc herniation and improve patients’ quality of life. The analgesic effect of face acupuncture was significantly better than that of conventional acupuncture.2.Facial acupuncture therapy takes fewer points and stimulates less, which is generally easy for patients to accept. It is easy and safe to operate, with low requirements for operating space, and has clinical application value.
