Objective:In order to highlight its benefits in the treatment of sciatica, the goal of this study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of treating secondary sciatica caused by lumbar disc herniation using elongated needle transacupuncture in combination with three lumbar needles. It also aimed to standardize the specific clinical operation procedures for elongated needle transacupuncture.Further treatment options and ideas are offered, along with references to clinical data for use in further promotion and implementation. It also introduces fresh approaches and concepts for use in clinical settings.Methods:60 cases of sciatica brought on by herniated lumbar discs were separated at random. The treatment groups(elongated needle through acupuncture combined with three lumbar needles)and control group(usual acupuncture)were randomly assigned to 60 cases of sciatica owing to lumbar disc herniation,30 cases in each group, once a day,10 times a course of treatment. Before and after treatment(20 times each),the visual analogue scale(VAS),lumbar function scale(JOA),and limb dysfunction index(ODI)were recorded, and statistical organization and data analysis were carried out in accordance with the pertinent data.Results:(1)VAS scores in both groups were lower than they were prior to treatment, with the combination group experiencing greater reductions than the common acupuncture group. This difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)Both groups experienced an increase in JOA scores compared to before treatment, but the elongated needle through acupuncture group experienced a wider increase range than the conventional acupuncture group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)ODI scores were lower in both groups compared to before treatment, with a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05)between the elongated needle through acupuncture combined with three lumbar needles group and the common acupuncture group in terms of the degree of reduction.(4)After treatment, there was a statistically significant difference in the total effective rate between the two groups(P<0.05),with the combination group having a higher total effective rate than the group receiving standard acupuncture.Conclusion:(1)Elongated needle acupuncture paired with three lumbar needles and standard acupuncture can help with the clinical symptoms of sciatica caused by lumbar disc herniation.(2)When paired with three lumbar needles, elongated needle acupuncture has a more significant clinical impact on sciatica owing to lumbar disc herniation than standard acupuncture treatment.
