Objective:This study adopts a randomized controlled trial on patients with piriformis syndrome by acupuncture Anti-Ashi point and acupuncture conventional method, and evaluate the changes of visual analogue score, clinical symptom score and ultrasound-guided measurement of piriformis muscle thickness after treatment,in order to observe the difference of clinical effect between acupuncture Anti-Ashi point and acupuncture conventional method in the treatment of piriformis syndrome, which can provide clinical basis for the treatment of piriformis syndrome with Anti-Ashi point.Methods:64 patients with piriformis syndrome who met the clinical diagnosis and inclusion criteria were randomly divided into observation group and control group, and each group had 32 cases. The observation group was treated with acupuncture at Anti-Ashi points, while the control group was treated with acupuncture at conventional points. Both groups were treated in two courses of treatment, which included once a day,and five times as a course of treatment, with an interval of two days in each course of treatment. The two groups were evaluated by VAS score, clinical symptom score and ultrasound-guided measurement of piriformis muscle thickness before and after treatment,in order to analyze the clinical effect of the two groups.Results:1.Clinical efficacy evaluation: The clinical efficacy of the two groups after treatment were compared between the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that the clinical efficacy of the observation group was better than that of the control group.2.VAS score: The VAS score of the two groups before and after treatment were compared within the group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05),indicating that both groups can improve the pain symptoms of patients with piriformis syndrome; The differences of VAS scores between the two groups before and after treatment were compared between the groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that the observation group was better than the control group.3.Clinical symptom score: The clinical symptom scores of the two groups before and after treatment were compared within the group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that both groups can improve the clinical symptoms of patients with piriformis syndrome and restore the function of piriformis muscle; The difference of clinical symptom scores between the two groups before and after treatment were compared between the groups, indicating that the observation group was better than the control group.4.Ultrasound-guided measurement of piriformis muscle thickness: The thickness of piriformis muscle measured by ultrasound before and after treatment were compared within the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that both groups can effectively reduce the thickness of piriformis muscle on the affected side of patients with piriformis syndrome, restore the normal shape of piriformis muscle; The difference of piriformis muscle thickness measured by ultrasound before and after treatment were compared between the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),indicating that the observation group was better than the control group.Conclusions:1.The clinical effect of acupuncture at Anti-Ashi point on piriformis syndrome was better than acupuncture at conventional points.2.The treatment methods of two groups can effectively relieve the pain symptoms of patients with piriformis syndrome, restore the function of piriformis muscle on the affected side, and acupuncture at Anti-Ashi point was superior to acupuncture at conventional points.3.The treatment methods of two groups can effectively reduce the thickness of piriformis muscle on the affected side of patients with piriformis syndrome, improve piriform muscle swelling, and acupuncture at Anti-Ashi point was superior to acupuncture at conventional points.
