| After the reform and opening up,my country’s economy has developed rapidly.However,in recent years,the problem of population aging and aging in my country has become increasingly prominent,and the rural population is a larger part of the national population.Therefore,how to promote the healthy development of rural society is the main task of the current national economic development.In 2003,the basic medical insurance system for rural residents,that is,the new rural cooperative medical insurance system(hereinafter referred to as the new rural cooperative medical insurance system)was officially implemented,and in 2016,it was merged with the urban residents medical insurance into the urban and rural residents medical insurance.Taking happiness as the core explained variable,this paper analyzes and measures the implementation effect of my country’s rural basic medical insurance policy.On the basis of summarizing domestic and foreign literatures,this paper analyzes with the theory of expected utility,prospect theory and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.This paper selects the three-phase tracking data of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey(CHARLS),and uses the double-difference method and the double-difference propensity score matching method to study the impact of rural basic medical insurance on the well-being of rural middle-aged and elderly people.This paper first studies the overall impact of rural basic medical insurance on the insured rural middle-aged and elderly people,and then evaluates the happiness-enhancing effect of medical insurance for urban and rural residents.Finally,a robustness test is carried out in this paper.According to the empirical results,participating in rural basic medical insurance improves the happiness of rural middle-aged and elderly people,but the improvement effect is limited.This paper puts forward policy suggestions for the rural basic medical insurance policy,hoping that the rural residents’ medical insurance can be improved to improve the quality and level of life of the middle-aged and elderly in rural areas. |
