| Objective: Through the changes of anthropometric indexes and serological indexes before and after treatment,we observe the clinical efficacy of shumi wave relay electroacupuncture at periumbilical acupoints combined with conventional acupuncture therapy in treating simple obesity to provide an objective evidence for the clinical application of shumi wave relay electroacupuncture at periumbilical acupoints in the treatment of patients with simple obesity.Method: In this study,80 participants with simple obesity were randomly assigned into a treatment group and a control group, with 40 cases in each group. All participants were given health education to adjust their lifestyle before the treatment. The control group was administrated with conventional acupuncture protocol, while the treatment group was administrated with shumi wave relay electroacupuncture at periumbilical acupoints combined with conventional acupuncture protocol. Two groups of participants received treatment once every other day,5 treatments as a course,a total of 3 courses. The general data of the participants including gender and age were recorded. The anthropometric indexes between the two groups were collected before and after treatment including height, weight, waist circumference and hip circumference, and were calculated the body mass index and waist-to-hip ratio. And serological indexes including cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein(HDL-C)were collected. Results: During the treatment,7 participants dropped out because of their inability to adhere to the treatment due to individual reasons. Finally,a total of 73 cases were collected.1.Baseline comparison: Statistical analysis showed that the gender, age, and anthropometric indexes including height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference,BMI,waist-to-hip ratio, and serological indexes of TC,TG,LDL-C and HDL-C between the two groups were comparable, without statistically difference(P>0.05).2.Comparison of anthropometric indexes after treatment: the weight,BMI,waist circumference and hip circumference in the treatment group were significantly decreased, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05);the BMI,waist circumference, and hip circumference in the control group were significantly decreased, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05);compared with the control group, the weight,BMI and waist circumference in the treatment group decreased more significantly, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Comparison of serological indexes after treatment: the levels of TG and LDL-C were significantly decreased and the level of HDL-C was significantly decreased in the treatment group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05);HDL-C in the control group was significantly increased, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05);compared with the control group the decreasing levels of TG and LDL-C and increasing level of HDL-C in the treatment group was more significant, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Comparison of the total effective rate between the two groups: the total effective rate of the treatment group was 86.49%,while the control group was 66.67%.The curative effect of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Shumi wave relay electroacupuncture at periumbilical acupoints combined with conventional acupuncture protocol is effective in the treatment of simple obesity.2.Compared with the conventional acupuncture protocol, the shumi wave relay electroacupuncture at periumbilical acupoints combined with conventional acupuncture protocol could significantly decrease the weight,BMI,waist circumference, hip circumference of patients with simple obesity.3.Compared with the conventional acupuncture protocol, the shumi wave relay electroacupuncture at periumbilical acupoints combined with conventional acupuncture protocol could significantly decrease the levels of TG,LDL-C and increase the levels of HDL-C. |
