Objective: According to the pathogenesis of thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy(TAO),under the guidance of the basic theory of Chinese medicine and Navel Acupuncture theory,we observed the clinical efficacy of the combination of navel acupuncture and qi-regulating and phlegm-resolving prescription with hormone treatment for TAO,evaluated the effectiveness of the combination of acupuncture and medicine in Chinese medicine for the treatment of this disease, and explored new clinical methods for the treatment of this disease. Methods: Forty patients(80 eyes)who met the inclusion criteria were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups, treatment group(20 patients,40 eyes)and control group(20 patients,40 eyes). The treatment group was given navel acupuncture combined with qi-regulating and phlegm-resolving prescription plus hormone conventional treatment(refer to the 2016 European Thyroid Association and European GO Expert Group Guidelines and Chinese Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Thyroid Diseases(Graves’ Eye Disease Part)),and the control group was given hormone conventional treatment.Best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),eye prominence,CAS score,Ophthalmoplegia Index(OPI),modified Chinese versionthyroid associated ophthalmopathy quality of life(M-C-TAO-QOL)scores,Chinese medicine symptom score, and statistical processing were performed to analyze and evaluate the differences in efficacy.Results:(1)Comparison of relevant indexes: In BCVA,eye prominence,CAS score,OPI,TCM syndrome score, and M-C-TAO-QOL score, both groups showed significant improvement in Months 1,2,3 after treatment compared with the pre-treatment period, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).Compared between the two groups, the difference was not statistically significant after 1 month of treatment(P > 0.05),and the group of hormone and navel acupuncture combined with Chinese medicine was better than the group of hormone conventional treatment alone after 2 and3 months of treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P< 0.05).(2)Comparison of efficacy: After 1 month of treatment, the total effective rate was 35.00% and 32.50% in the treatment and control groups, respectively, with no statistically significant difference(P > 0.05).After2 months of treatment, the total effective rate was 72.50% and 62.50% in the treatment group and the control group, respectively. After 3 months of treatment, the total effective rate was 87.50% and 77.50% in the treatment group and the control group, respectively. The total effective rate of the two groups differed significantly(P < 0.05)after 2 and 3 months of treatment, and the efficacy of the treatment group was better than that of the control group. Conclusion:The combination of navel acupuncture and qi-regulating and phlegm-resolving prescription with hormone has significant efficacy, and the long-term treatment effect is better than that of hormone treatment alone, which can effectively improve the orbital tissue and extraocular muscle involvement of TAO and improve the survival quality of patients in a safe and convenient manner, and is worth promoting. |
