As the main academic organisation of society, universities and colleges are recognised as the "axial institutions" of recent societies,as well as the "power stations" of human society. The authors of schools and research institutions,as the main body of scientific results, are an important part of the path of data exchange and scientific innovation, and play a crucial role in scientific discovery and the development of knowledge. The influence of authors in higher education refers to the impact of these authors on their relevant academic fields over a certain period of time and on the development of scientific activity. This influence is judged primarily on the basis of the individual's scientific output and the number of papers published. The analysis of the influence of university authors through quantitative methods is of great importance for the introduction of talents, the selection of professional titles, the awarding of scientific results and even the application of scientific projects. Therefore, how to reasonably and effectively analyse the academic level of university authors has been a hot topic in academic circles. With the increasing efforts of national research, the number of academic papers,as the most important expression of the results of research activities,is increasing exponentially.Research has shown that the number of authorships on academic papers is also increasing, with the proportion of papers with a single author decreasing and the number of papers co-authored by multiple authors increasing day by day, especially in international research collaborations where the number of authorships on papers with dozens of authors is not new.In general, the order of authorship is a symbol of honour and responsibility, and the number of papers published by an author is to some extent a reflection of the author's academic contribution, and the order of authorship can have a significant impact.A quantitative analysis and ranking of co-authors would not only allow for better consideration of author rank when assessing scientific impact, but would also provide a better way to measure and characterise the contribution of co-authors.How to analyse authors scientifically in terms of authorship order has also become an urgent issue. Therefore, this study introduces a new index for author influence analysis, the Y-index,and improves on the existing Y-index.With the background and significance of the study as the first chapter, the full research idea and framework are given in full by analysing the current situation of author influence research at home and abroad, introducing the corresponding research tools and scientific methods The second chapter introduces relevant theories and methods.Chapter 2 introduces the relevant theories and methods, mainly including author influence, academic productivity, academic engagement and polar coordinates.Chapter 3 begins with a description of the relationship between author productivity, academic engagement and author influence. Then the Y-index authorship analysis model is introduced and analysed on the basis of two dimensions: author productivity and engagement in universities. The fourth chapter uses the entropy weighting method to assign values to authors in different ranks, and then improves the Y index to construct the author influence analysis model Yi index and analyse the influence of authors on author productivity and engagement in universities. Finally,a comparative analysis of the improved author productivity and engagement is conducted.Chapter 5 concludes the study, pointing out the shortcomings of the study and providing an outlook for future research. This study introduces the Y index, improves it according to its shortcomings in the application of author's academic influence evaluation, constructs the Yi index, analyses author's influence in two dimensions: productivity and participation, and conducts an empirical study. The study finds that the Y-index and Yi-index can achieve a visual presentation of author influence in polar coordinates, enabling other researchers to more easily distinguish the role played by authors in academic research, while taking into account the number and quality of authors' publications, which is innovative and reasonable. It is hoped that this study can provide a reference for subsequent research on author influence analysis.
