Effect Of Fengchi Acupoint With "Needling Reaching The Affected Area" On The Curative Effect Of Acupuncture In Treating Migraine

Objective To evaluate the effect of fengchi acupoint with "Needling reaching the affected area" on the curative effect of acupuncture in treating migraineMethods Sixty outpatients diagnosed with migraine from March 2021 to January 2022 at the Third Hospital of Zhejiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine（Zhongshan Hospital of Zhejiang Province）were selected and divided into a treatment group and a control group with 30 patients in each group by random number method.The treatment group referred to the standard prescription of acupuncture and moxibustion for the selection of acupoints for Shaoyang-type headache in the New Century（the second edition）National Planning Textbook of Higher Chinese Medicine Colleges and Universities:Taiyang（EX-HN5）,Sizhukong（SJ23）,Shuaigu（GB8）,Fengchi（GB20）,Waiguan（SJ5）,and Xiaxi（GB43）（all bilateral）.In the treatment group,Taiyang,Sizhukong,Shuaigu,Waiguan,and Xiaxi were needled according to the conventional acupuncture,with achievement of de-qi sensation;it should be slightly pressed above the Fengchi near the lower edge of the occipital bone before Fengchi was needled,and when the patient feels a soreness and swelling in the head and temporal area,and needle here,and the direction of the needle tip and the depth of needling should be slowly adjusted until the patient feels a soreness and swelling in the head and temporal area,and the needle retaining for 30 min.In the control group,all acupuncture points,including Fengchi,were needled as conventional acupuncture,with achievement of de-qi sensation,and the needle retaining for 30 min.Both the treatment group and the control group were treated once every other day,three times a week for 4 weeks.The visual analog scale（VAS）was used to record the changes of headache before treatment and after the end of the first treatment,and the migraine specific quality of life assessment questionnaire（MSQ）and headache symptom score were used to record the changes of migraine before treatment and after 4 weeks of treatment,and the scale data were statistically analyzed to comprehensively evaluate the efficacy of the two groups.Results 1.After the first treatment,the VAS scores of the two groups were compared within the group and were lower than before,and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）;after the first treatment,the VAS scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group when compared between groups,and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）;2.After 4 weeks of treatment,the MSQ and headache symptom scores of the two groups were compared within the group and were lower than before treatment,and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05）;after 4 weeks of treatment,the MSQ and headache symptom score were compared between the two groups,and the difference was not statistically significant（P>0.05）;after 4 weeks of treatment,the total effective rate was 90.00%in the treatment group and 86.67%in the control group,and the difference was not statistically significant（P>0.05）.Conclusion The recent efficacy of the two methods was similar.Both of them could reduce the pain of migraine patients and improve the recent quality of life of migraine patients,but the immediate efficacy of fengchi acupoint with "Needling reaching the affected area"acupuncture in treating migraine is better than that of conventional acupuncture.
