Objective: Study on the chemical constituents from the roots of Pfaffia glomerata in Pfaffia Pedersen genus of Amaranthaceae. Methods: A variety of chromatographic methods and modern spectroscopic techniques were used to isolate and identify the chemical constituents from Pfaffia glomerata. Results: 30 compounds were isolated from the dichloromethane part and ethyl acetate part of the 95% ethanol extract of Pfaffia glomerata root,29 of which were identified, their structures were identified as20-hydroxyecdysone(1),pterosterone(2),stigmasterol(3),β-sitosterol(4),7α-hydro xysitosterol(5),7β-hydroxysitosterol(6),daucosterol(7),oleanolic acid(8),eupatoric acid(9),oleanolicacid-28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(10),pfaffine B(11),3-methylquer cetin(12),quercetin(13),7,4′-dihydroxy-5-methoxydihydroflavone(14),luteolin(15),syringaresin(16),(+)-nyasol(17),N-trans-feruloyltyramine(18),berberine(19),palmitic acid(20),10-eicosenoic acid(21),sucrose(22),dibutyl phthalate(23),oleic acid(24),1-dodecanol(25),3,5-dihydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyflavone(26),mesembryanth emoidigenic acid(27),oleanolic acid 3-O-β-D-glucuropyranoside(28),oleanolic acid-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside-6’-O-methyl ester(29).Conclusion: Compounds 5,6,9,12-23,25 and 26 were isolated from Pfaffia Pedersen genus and Pfaffia glomerata plant for the first time.By some compounds isolated preliminary in vitro anti-breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cell activity screening.MTT assay, preliminary findings compound 2 signific antly inhibited cell proliferation of MDA-MB-231 at high concentrations, whereas at low concentrations the compound 8,11,27 significant inhibition.
