Background and objectives:To explore the effect of iron deficiency on exercise endurance and quality of life in patients with atrial fibrillation Methods:The study included 295 hospitalized patients with confirmed atrial fibrillation, collected clinical data of the patients, and divided them into iron deficiency group(ID group)and iron normal group(Non-ID group)according to their ferritin levels. Both groups of patients underwent a 6-minute walk test to assess their exercise ability. The patient’s quality of life is assessed by completing the Euro Qo L-5D questionnaire, and then based on the assessment questionnaire score. Results:Among the 295 patients with atrial fibrillation included, the median age was 66 years, and 60% of them were men.The median duration of atrial fibrillation is 5years.Studies have shown that in the six-minute walk test, the six-minute walk distance of the non-ID group is longer than that of the ID group(275.10-309.17vs400.80-430.06,P <.001).At the same time, compared with the ID group, there was no statistically significant difference in the visual analog scale scores of patients in the Non-ID group(0.39-0.53vs0.42-062,P = 0.49),which indicates that the ID group and the Non-ID group patients The self-evaluation of physical condition is similar.Compared with the ID group, the Euro Qo L-5D index of the Non-ID group is higher(0.62-0.68 vs 0.38-0.42,P=0.067).Analyzing the data of each dimension of Euro Qo L-5D-5L,it is found that compared with the ID group, the self-evaluation score of the "Usual activities" item of the Non-ID group is lower(0.29-0.48vs0.47-0.67,P= 0.011).Compared with the ID group, the Non-ID group’s self-evaluation score of "Mobility" is lower(0.31-0.51vs0.42-0.62,P<.001);however,the self-evaluation scores of other dimensions are not Significant difference(P>0.5)Conclusions:The persistence of ID will significantly impair the patient’s exercise capacity and quality of life, and is not related to anemia.
