Objective:Based on the analysis of the distribution characteristics of TCM syndromes in children with functional constipation, and the investigation and analysis of the influence of dietary habits on FC,the thesis tends to explore the correlation between TCM Syndrome Types and dietary habits to provide reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment of FC traditional Chinese medicine and diet care in children. Methods:This study collected 192 children with functional constipation who met the inclusion criteria from January 2020 to December 2020 in the pediatric outpatient department of Xiamen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The basic information and clinical symptoms of the children fulfilling the inclusion criteria were gathered.According to the TCM syndrome differentiation criteria, the syndrome types were diagnosed, and the related factors of dietary habits were investigated. Then the distribution characteristics of TCM syndrome types of children with functional constipation were summarized and analyzed by statistical software to explore the relationship between functional constipation syndrome and dietary habits.Results:1.General data:(1)Among 192 cases of children,98 cases were male, accounting for51.04%;94 cases were female, accounting for 48.96%.The ratio of male to female was 1.04:1.After analysis, the distribution of gender in each syndrome type made no sense(P>0.05).(2)The youngest was 2 years old and the oldest was 13 years old.According to the age analysis,2-year-old and 3-year-old children were the most affected among them.According to the analysis of children’s age stages,95 cases(49.5%)were found in preschool children(3~6years old). After analysis, there was of crucial significance in the distribution of different syndrome types in different age groups(P<0.05).(3)The shortest course of disease was 1month and the longest was 6 years;87 cases(45.31%)had the most disease course of 1-6months.After analysis, there was no point in the distribution of each syndrome type in different course of disease(P>0.05).2.Distribution of syndrome types: Among 192 children with functional constipation, the most common syndrome type was Hot and dry FC,followed by Qi deficiency FC,Dyspepsia FC and Qi stagnation FC.There was no Blood deficiency constipation syndrome in the included cases.3.Relationship between TCM syndrome types of functional constipation and dietary factors:(1)Univariate analysis showed that the intake of picky food, grains, vegetables, fruits, livestock meat, eggs, milk, soybeans and nuts played an essential role in different syndrome types(all P<0.05);there were significant differences in the intake of picky food, grains, vegetables, fruits and livestock meat(all P<0.01).(2)Multiple logistic regression analysis presented that more meat intake of livestock was correlated with the occurrence of Dyspepsia FC(P<0.05);picky food, less grain intake, less vegetable intake and more meat intake of livestock were correlated with the occurrence of Hot and dry FC(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Among the 192 cases of children with functional constipation in TCM syndrome type included in this study,Hot and dry FC were the most common, followed by Qi deficiency FC,Dyspepsia FC and Qi stagnation FC.2.This study found that there is a correlation between diet structure and TCM syndrome types of constipation. The intake of poultry and livestock meat has a positive relation with the incidence of Dyspepsia FC.The intake of grains, vegetables and meat correlates with the occurrence of Hot and dry FC.Among them, the intake of grain and meat is positively associated with the incidence of Hot and dry FC while vegetable intake is negative. At the same time, picky about food is also a risk factor for Hot and dry FC.Therefore,to a certain extent, the TCM syndrome types of children with functional constipation are affected by dietary habits, which provides a basis for individualized dietary guidance for children with functional constipation in clinic.
