Effect Of Acupuncture And Medicine On Residual Dizziness After Manual Reduction Of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo

ObjectiveThe treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo with combination of acupuncture and medicine was used.The residual vertigo after manual reduction was observed to provide a more effective treatment for the residual vertigo,so as to alleviate the symptoms of vertigo,improve the curative effect of the disease and shorten the course of disease,so as to make a new breakthrough in the rapid termination of vertigo.MethodFrom May 2019 to January 2020,60 patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo diagnosed in the outpatient department and inpatient department of Otorhinolaryngology of Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Guangzhou University of traditional Chinese medicine were randomly divided into observation group and control group with 30 cases in each group.The control group was treated with western medicine:12 mg tid of betahistine mesylate tablet,10 mg QD of flunarizine capsule,and 500 ug TID of mecobalamin tablet;the observation group was treated with acupuncture at Sishen point and bilateral Yifeng point on the basis of the treatment of the control group.Before and after treatment,the DHI scale,the severity score of vertigo symptoms and signs,and the score of TCM syndrome observation scale were recorded,and the difference of residual dizziness between the observation group and the control group after manual reduction was compared.Results(1)DHI score:the DHI score of the two groups was improved(P<0.01).There was no significant difference(P>0.05)in DHI score on the first day after treatment,and there was significant difference(P<0.01)in DHI score on the second day,the third day and the seventh day,indicating that the improvement of DHI score was different between the two treatment schemes,suggesting that the improvement of patients’ condition was different,and the observation group was significantly better than the control group.There were significant differences in DHI scores on the first day,the second day,the third day and the seventh day after treatment in the observation group(P<0.01).There was no significant difference in DHI scores on the first day after treatment in the control group(P>0.05).There were significant differences in DHI scores on the second day,the third day and the seventh day after treatment in the observation group(P<0.01),suggesting that the time of onset of the observation group was faster than that in the control group.(2)Vertigo symptoms and signs severity score and vertigo clinical symptoms score:the vertigo symptoms and signs severity score and vertigo clinical symptoms score of the two groups were improved(P<0.01),suggesting that the two treatment methods have effect.There were significant differences in the severity scores of vertigo symptoms and signs and clinical symptoms scores of vertigo on the 2nd,3rd and 7th day after treatment(P<0.01),There were significant differences between the two groups on the first day,the second day,the third day and the seventh day after treatment(P<0.01).(3)Efficacy evaluation:the total effective rate of the two groups increased gradually with the increase of treatment days.From the second day after treatment,the total effective rate of the observation group was 66.67%;on the third day after treatment,the total effective rate of the observation group was 100%,the total effective rate of the control group was 33.33%;on the seventh day after treatment,the total effective rate of the two groups was 100%.By the rank sum test,the results showed that there were significant differences between the two groups on the 2nd,3rd and 7th day after treatment(P<0.01).The results showed that there was a difference in clinical efficacy between the two groups,and the therapeutic effect of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group.ConclusionIt is necessary to pay attention to the residual dizziness symptoms of BPPV patients after manual reduction and early intervention treatment.The overall effect of acupuncture combined with western medicine is better than that of Western medicine alone.The effect is fast,can shorten the duration of residual dizziness after reduction,can significantly improve the symptoms of patients,improve the efficacy of the disease,and improve the quality of life of patients.
