| 【Objective】To investigate the status of school engagement in nursing undergraduates and understand the influencing factors of school engagement;to analyze the correlation among academic self-efficacy,solution-focused thinking and school engagement;to explore the mediating role of solution-focused thinking between the academic self-efficacy and school engagement.【Methods】A cross-sectional study method was used and a total of 236 nursing undergraduates were recruited from 3 medical universities in Shandong Province. The students were investigated with questionnaire of college students’ school engagement, academic self-efficacy questionnaire and solution-focused inventory.SPSS20.0 and AMOS23.0 were used to conduct statistical analysis.【Results】1.The average score of the total score of school engagement for nursing undergraduates was 66.64±13.98,and the average score for each item was 3.33±0.70.The scores of the three dimensions from high to low were cognitive engagement(3.40±0.79),emotional engagement(3.37±0.76),and behavioral engagement(3.20±0.72).The influence of demographic variables on school engagement showed that there was significant difference in school engagement and each dimension among nursing undergraduates of different grades, degree of love for the nursing specialty, and willingness to engage in nursing work after graduation(all P<0.05).2.The average score of the total score of academic self-efficacy for nursing undergraduates was 76.55±11.27,and the average score for each item was 3.48±0.51.The highest score was the learning ability self-efficacy dimension(3.55±0.65),followed by it was the dimension of learning behavior self-efficacy(3.41±0.48).3.The average score of the total score of solution-focused thinking for nursing undergraduates was 50.02±7.94,and the average score for each item was 4.17±0.66.The scores of the three dimensions from high to low were resource activation(4.40±0.87),problem disengagement(4.08±0.90),and goal orientation(4.03±0.98).4.The total score of academic self-efficacy was positively correlated with the total score of school engagement(r=0.686,P<0.01).The total score of the solution-focused thinking was positively correlated with the total score of school engagement(r=0.458,P<0.01).The total score of academic self-efficacy was positively correlated with the total score of solution-focused thinking(r=0.506,P<0.01).Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that learning ability self-efficacy,learning behavior self-efficacy,goal orientation and resource activation were significant predictors of behavioral engagement(all P<0.01);learning ability self-efficacy,learning behavior self-efficacy and goal orientation were significant predictors of cognitive engagement(P <0.01)and emotional engagement(P<0.01).5.Results of structural equation model showed that solution-focused thinking played a partly mediated role between academic self-efficacy and school engagement, with the mediated effect accounting for 31.25% of total effect.【Conclusion】1.The level of school engagement of nursing undergraduates was not high and there was space for improvement. The scores of school engagement of nursing undergraduates with different demographic characteristics were quite different, and their levels of academic self-efficacy and solution-focused thinking were deficient to varying degrees.2.Grade,the degree of love for nursing specialty and the willingness to engage in nursing work after graduation were the influencing factors of the nursing undergraduates’ school engagement level;academic self-efficacy and goal orientation were the important predictors of school engagement, resource activation of solution-focused thinking could predict school engagement through behavioral engagement.3.Both academic self-efficacy and solution-focused thinking were positively correlated with the school engagement, and the academic self-efficacy was positively correlated with the solution-focused thinking.4.Solution-focused thinking played a partial mediating role between academic self-efficacy and school engagement.Academic self-efficacy could directly affect the school engagement of nursing undergraduates and also could affect nursing undergraduates’ school engagement by affecting the solution-focused thinking. |
