Objective:To compare the difference of critical thinking ability of undergraduate nursing students from different ethnic groups. To explore the factors Which influence the critical thinking disposition of undergraduate nursing students. To provide the basis for the future nursing edueation innovation in order to cultivate nursing students ability of critical thinking. methods:Undergraduate nursing students in Grade 2005 to 2008 were investigated with the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory(CCT-DI)and The Inventory of Affected Factors of Critical Thinking Disposition designed by researcher. the score of critical thinking disposition were marked as Mean±SD. different ethnic groups and different regions groups of han compared by LSD. different regions groups of Uygur compared by Independent-Samples T Test. The data were analyzed with software SPSS version 16.0. Results:1). The score of critical thinking ability of Han, Hui, Uygur, Kazak and other minority scores were(283.65±26.75, 279.92±30.71, 266.94±27.986, 266.40±30.82, 270.70±18.80),respectively。The total score and the dimensions of critical thinking ability between Han and Uygur students were statistically significant(p<0.05orp<0.01)。so were the total score of critical thinking, analytical ability and cognitive maturity between Han and Kazak students.(p<0.01orp<0.05),and the cognitive maturity between Hui and Uygur, Hui and Kazak student(sp<0.01)and the self-confidence in critical thinking between Uygur and Kazak students(p<0.05). 2)The score of critical thinking ability of Han in the Southern, northern Xinjiang,mainland is (268.92±23.43,287.49±25.37,288.04±29.26), respectively .and The search for the truth less than 40, but the analytical ability ,thirst for knowledge were greater than 40 . the total score of critical thinking between Southern and northern Xinjiang ,Southern and mainland statistically significant(p<0.01),so were the search for truth, open-minded, analytical ability between Southern and northern Xinjiang(p<0.01orp<0.05)of han,and the northern are higher than the Southern, The scores of mainland are higher than the Southern and the analysis ability, cognitive maturity between Southern Xinjiang and mainlan(dp<0.05). the critical thinking scores and the dimension scores have no statistical difference between Southern and northern Xinjiang Uygur students. 3) The score of critical thinking disposition of undergraduate nursing students of the three different students are(282.80±23.43,269.18±27.52,268.36±28.11)4)Learning on the job or not have no statistically significant,but practicing do.5)The types of personality, outside interference, reading new literature, interpersonal learning and teachers in the classroom through the idea of CT are related to Chinese language department of nursing students'CT, but independence of the personality,reading martial arts books related to other language department.Conclusion:Han's undergraduate nursing students are scored higher in critical thinking .The critical thinking ability varies among different ethnic groups,which may be closely related to religious belief, national identity, language, culture, customs and nursing education.further promtion and improvement of critical thinking ability of enthnic groups based on the features of nursing studentscan be of great significance in developing nursing education and advancing clinical nursing work in minor groups.
