Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this project is to determine why Riverside Methodist Hospital's imaging section is not able to meet the 24 hour turnaround requirement for the patient's paper medical record to be incorporated into the patient's computerized record. The project focuses on ways to improve the processing of the paper medical record into the computerized medical record. It examines both the workflow and the human aspect of the process. It analyzes the workflow to determine if adjustments need to be made. Staffing needs were reviewed and revised. Standardization of staff work processes was created. The use of coaching to improve staff productivity was used on a one to one basis with the low producing associates. Prepping guidelines and helpful hints posters were used to help all associates increase their productivity.
