Cigarette smoke is composed of different sizes aerosols.The sensory quality of smoke is closely related to the content and distribution of flavor components in the smoke aerosol.In this paper,the particles of cigarette smoke aerosol were divided and collected by single channel smoking machine coupled electronic low-pressure impactor(ELPI).Furthermore,the content and concentration distribution of main flavor components(including phenols,sugars,alkaloids,alcohols and organic acids)in different particle sizes cigarette smoke aerosol was studied.The major research contents include five parts:(1)Cigarette smoke aerosol were divided into 12 stages and collected by using single channel smoking machine coupled electrical low-pressure impactor(ELPI).The results showed that the aerosols collecting method has good stability with relative standard deviation(RSD)of collected particles mass less than 10%.The experiment found that the mass of smoke aerosol was mainly distributed in medium size particles(0.144~0.722 ?m).(2)The content and concentration distribution of 7 alkaloids in the aerosol of different particle sizes were determined by alkali extraction coupled gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC/MS)method.The results showed that all of7 alkaloids were present in the medium size particles with the highest concentration in particles 0.431 ?m.In addition,the concentration distribution of alkaloids in different particle size of aerosols was basically consistent.(3)The content and concentration distribution of 13 phenols in mainstream cigarette smoke aerosols were determined by solvent extraction coupled ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-fluorescence detection(UPLC-FLD)method.It was found that the content distribution of phenols was mainly concentrated in the medium size of mainstream cigarette smoke aerosol,and the distribution of the phenols content appeared increasing at first and then decreasing with increase of particle size.With increasing smoke aerosol particle size,the concentrations ofmono-substituted phenols and phenol appeared to first increase and then decrease.There was no obvious difference in the concentration of disubstituted phenols with the change of particle size.(4)The content and concentration distribution of sugars and alcohols in smoke aerosol were determined by GC-MS.The content distribution of sugars and alcohols were appeared increasing at first and then decreasing with increase of particle size.The concentrations of glycerol and xylitol exhibited a first decreases and then increases trend with increasing smoke aerosol particle size,and sugars and other alcohols showed an opposite trend.(5)The content and concentration distribution of organic acid in mainstream cigarette smoke aerosol were determined by a derivatization method coupled GC-MS.With increasing smoke aerosol particle size,the content distribution of organic acid appeared to first increase and then decreaseand.The concentration distribution of small molecule organic acids were uniform throughout the particles of varying sizes.The other organic acid appeared increasing at first and then decreasing with increase of particle size.
