An Analysis Of The Mass Communication Of Reading TV Program Based On The Perspective Of Circuit Of Culture Theory

In the past ten years,the entertainment functions of China's videoland have been released.The value of hedonism and materialism pursued by consumerism are also eroding our people's spiritual and cultural life.Against this backdrop,TV culture has shifted from diversification to homogenization and entertainment.In 2017,“LETTERS ALIVE”and“THE READER”was shown on TV and changed situation.Both of them got good ratings and reputation.As high grade programs,the rise of“LETTERS ALIVE”and“THE READER”is bound to bring an inestimable impact on mass culture.The same type of variety shows keep up with the trend.Based on circuit of culture theory,this article uses literature research method and image analytical method to reveal the elite consciousness hidden behind form of entertainment of the two programs.The article also points out that the reason why reading TV programs succeed is symbiosis of elite culture and mass culture.It provided a salutary lesson for other variety shows.The main content of this paper is divided into three parts:First,the paper presents Chinese television media is in a carnival of entertainment and that is the backdrop of the arisen reading TV programs.In the first part the paper also teases out the status of reading TV programs.Secondly,the article analyzes the significance of "LETTERS ALIVE" and "THE READER" as well as the method of constructing significance.With audio-visual language,the two programs construct the significance of cultural inheritance,cultural self-confidence and moralizing people,by means of the contrastive analysis.In the final chapter the paper points out that the reading TV programs bridge the gap between elite culture and mass culture via two ways.One of them is top-down reform,the other one is innovation from bottom up.The article summarizes the experiences for the development and innovation of the TV programs and the videoland.From the circuit of culture theory perspective,the paper views the reading TV programs from all the angles and put forward news ideas of the circuit of culture theory.This is the novel point of this paper.
