In recent years,along with the improvement of comprehensive national strength and international status,China's national rejuvenation process is developing in an irreversible trend.The rise of the nation state has also brought the rise of national consciousness.In contemporary China,the trend of nationalism has gradually become an important means of social mobilization and political propaganda.As the creator of news discourse,the media plays an important role in it.As the embodiment of the national soft power competition,the sports field is becoming a new stage for the wrestling of various nationalist forces,among which football,with its own tactical and violent antagonism,is becoming the research object of more and more scholars.In 2013 and 2015,Guangzhou Hengda Taobao football team won the Asian champions league for the first time twice,which also opened a door for the media and fans disappointed with China's football performance to vent their nationalist feelings.Used in this paper is focused on the Titan sports Guangzhou Hengda Taobao football team won the cup in 2013,2015 in the 338 event report,based on conceptual metaphors and nationalism theory,attempts to explore the Titan sports in the expression of nationalism in symbolic metaphor in the process of using,emotional mobilization methods,construction of national identity.The first chapter introduces the relationship between sports and nationalism,the national identity in sports media narration,the nationalistic color of Chinese sports,and defines the concepts of nationalism,nationalism and patriotism.The contents and methods of this study are as follows:Analysis of the nationalist reporting strategy of Titan sports weekly;An interpretation of the nationalist metaphor in Titan sports;An analysis of the reasons why nationalism exists in Chinese football.The research method and design part introduces the research methods such as content analysis,interview,multimodal metaphor analysis,etc.In this paper,the reasons for selecting Titan sports weekly,the analysis unit,sampling method,category construction and reliability test of content analysis are introduced.In this paper,the second chapter through to the Titan sports reported in Hengda events used in content and form,the title of the report tendency,the article leads type reports,news sources,genre,reports the theme and layout,content analysis reports position such as purpose,trying to outline the Titan sports in th e AFC champions Hengda reports events used in the strategy.The research found that Titan sports weekly started to ignite the nationalist emotion of the audience by making exaggerated headlines and inciting the contents of headlines.At the same time,according to the different results of the competition,the tendency of the report will also swing,the pursuit of the story to strengthen the guidance of public opinion,these elements gathered also make Titan sports weekly in the report on the content of the clear position of the two sides;However,under different competition results,the change of reporting position subtly guided the emotional flow of the audience.The third chapter combines metaphor analysis and related theories of nationalism to understand and read the nationalist metaphor in Titan sports weekly.The first section analyzes the role of metaphor in news reports on nationalism,and points out that the media can stimulate the audience's national emotion through metaphor and enhance national identity.The second section analyzes three types of metaphors constructed by Titan sports weekly:war metaphor,family metaphor and hero metaphor.In the third section,the author analyzes the mode of multimodal mapping in pictorial metaphors by taking some pictures of Titan sports weekly as examples.Think through the images in this chapter reports the national flag,fans,players,display,text report"whole god","Great Wall","Chinese football"and other words of high frequency applications,Titan sports fans,players,and the national organic together,at the same time,it will be "Hengda football=Chinese football" the unequal relationship between the embedded in the audience heart.Chapter four analyzes the reasons why nationalism exists in Chinese football from the perspectives of realistic context,historical context and cultural context.The author believes that the reality and public pressure of Chinese football,the characteristics of Chinese nationalism,and the long-term emotional shackles of media and fan groups have distorted the Chinese football culture and reflected the following four characteristics:the general war metaphor,the high degree of national identity,the lack of spiritual core,and the diverse fan identity.The media and the audience are not only the constructors of this abnormal culture,but also influenced by this culture imperceptibly.The conclusion of this paper slightly discusses the positive and negative influence of nationalism on the development of Chinese sports and gives some Suggestions on how to improve the coverage of football by sports media.This chapter also explains the theoretical contribution and the deficiency of this research.
