According to the World Health Organization(WHO)estimates, nearly 10 million people worldwide died of cancer in 2018.Although most cancers cannot be completely cured so far, with the advancement and development of medical standards and people’s awareness of the disease, the survival period of most cancer patients can be extended to a certain extent.Related research shows that cognitive behavioral therapy has a good effect in improving the emotional problems and problems of the treatment response of cancer patients. Therefore, this study attempts to apply cognitive behavioral therapy in social work group interventions to further explore the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in improving the resistance of cancer patients. In order to help cancer patients reduce their psychological burden, improve their quality of life, make them actively treat cancer treatment and recovery, and to supplement the lack of resilience in the field of practical research, this study selects G Provincial Tumor Hospital as the research point, recruits and selects research objects from patients in breast and brain tumor patients, and collects research data by participation observation, questionnaire survey, interview, etc. And use group work method to carry out practical activities. This paper studies the level of stress resistance of cancer patients and its influencing factors, and discusses how social workers use cognitive behavioral therapy to improve the level of stress resistance and activity effect of cancer patients in group work. The results show that:(1)The overall level of resilience of cancer patients is very low.In this study, thecancer patients were measured with the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. It was found that the average score of stress resistance of cancer patients was 49.41±13.952,which was significantly lower than the normal score of stress resistance in China, which was 81.15±14.03.Cancer patients also scored very low in three dimensions of resilience: tenacity, strength and optimism.(2)The factors that affect the resilience of cancer patients include personal factors, environmental factors and social support factors. From the perspective of personal factors: most cancer patients lack a reasonable understanding of cancer treatment.Cancer patients often think that cancer is an incurable disease. They worry too much about the metastasis or recurrence of cancer cells and the side effects of treatment drugs on the body, and take overly optimistic or negative attitude towards the treatment results. The cognition of cancer patients on the meaning of life has changed, and Many postoperative patients have low self-esteem,low self-identity and lack of self-worth;the life role of patients has temporarily changed from caregiver to caregiver after illness;many patients are depressed after diagnosis, prone to anxiety, depression and other negative emotions,so social behavior is weakened. From the perspective of environmental factors, after cancer patients get sick, the family economic burden increases,The relationship between husband and wife,parent-child,etc.has been challenged;after the patients are hospitalized, the living environment is different from the original family environment, the treatment costs are large, and the psychological burden increases;the relationship between patients and friends, and the relationship with colleagues in the work unit will also change, and patients will have disease shame after getting sick, which will reduce the contact with friends, reduce going out, reduce the sense of self-identity.From the perspective of social support factors, cancer patients have limited access to social resources and support, which also affects the confidence and strength of patients’ positive change to a certain extent.(3)Social workers focus on the negative emotional problems, irrational cognitive problems and negative behavioral problems of cancer patients, and use cognitive behavioral therapy in group work.By changing the irrational cognition of cancer patients and conducting behavioral training, social workers link psychological consultants, rehabilitation therapists,anti-cancer stars and other supporting forces to help cancer patients improve the level of resilience.(4)Through the pre-test and post-test of the resilience level of the team members,it was found that the resilience level of the team members as well as the threedimensions of tenacity, strength and optimism were significantly improved.Based on the interviews with team members,it is found that the satisfaction of the team members to the activities is very high, which shows that the intervention effect of cognitive behavioral therapy in the group work is significant.
